INTRODUCTION

The concept of specific energy originally proposed by


Bakhmeteff [1] has lot of advantages in the analysis
of open channel flow.
Specific energy , specific force and critical depth are
intimately connected specially in the study of critical
flow of an open channel.
Critical depth has a lot application in the flow
measuring device and to indicate the names of
gradually varied flow profiles and their computation.
