offering from European stocks,


Questions and answers
Q: Where are the M2BAX IE2 and IE3 motors produced that are sold
from the European stocks?
A: The M2BAX 71-250, IE2 motors are produced in China (CNMOT). The M2BAX 71-112, IE3 motors are
produced in China (CNMOT). The M2BAX 132-355, IE3 motors are produced in Poland (PLMOT)

Q: Can they be ordered as production orders?


A: The M2BAX motors can not be ordered from production in Europe. The M2BAX motors are only
available from stock.

Q: What is the difference between M2BA IE2 280-355 and future M2BAX
IE2 280-355?
A: The M2BA 280-355 motors have the terminal box cover and the fan cover made of plastic. The
M2ABX 280-355 will have the terminal box cover of cast iron and the fan cover made of sheet steel.

Q: Why has the end shield been changed for M2BAX?


A: The customer feedback from the Asian market was that the design was not so appealing so the design
was changed to a more modern one.

Q: When is possible to open VC 492 "fulfilling RINA without certificate"


for EBA3?
A: The code 492 was not in the original scope of variant codes and will be done as a separate product
maintenance case.
Q: Is EBA2 fulfilling IE2 also at 60Hz?
A: The motors can have any IE class at 60Hz since the M2BAX series was developed for the 50Hz network
and the efficiency level at 60Hz has not been specified for the M2BAX motors.

Q: Will C4 painting be available as this could be a blocking point in some


cases like lack of PTC and PT100 in bearings?
A: The available options are to be found from the tool VnP (Variant and prices), as for all other
motortypes. C4 painting and Pt100 in the bearings will not be available for the M2BAX series. Please use
the M3BP series if there is a need for those features.

Q: What are the differences between IE2 M2BAX motors from CN & EU?
A: If you order the same product code from China as you order from the stock in Europe, there is no
difference. If you are situated in Europe it is not possible to order products from the production unit in
China.

Q: Understand that CNMOT can offer IE2 M2BAX up to frame 355 now
already and also has changed the IE2 M2BAX to the new end shield and
frame design, correct?
A: Yes, that is correct.

Q: Since IE2 M2BA motors are going to phase out, may I know when will
the new IE2 M2BAX motors be registered for AU MEPS?
A: At the moment there is no time schedule for the AU MEPS registration, but this will be considered
when phasing out the M2BA series.

Q: What's the RAL number standard for M2BAX, any possibility to order
with a special RAL or BS numbers?
A: The colour is the same as for all ABB LV IEC motors, Munsell blue, 8B 4.5/3.25 and other colours are
available to order with the option +114
Q: For V1 position, need to change the bearings type?
A: No, you do not need to change the bearings for V1 position

Q: In the future, there could be the possibility to have the M2BAX for
the hazardous area?
A: At the moment there are no plans to make the M2AX series for hazardous areas.

Q: The voltage present in the name plate on the M2BAX IE2 and IE3 is
the same?
A: Yes, the data on the rating plate are the same on IE2 and IE3 motors

Q: Is possible have motor EU origin before Q4/2016?


A: The M2BAX 71-250, IE2 motors are produced in China (CNMOT). The M2BAX 71-112, IE3 motors are
produced in China (CNMOT). The M2BAX 132-355, IE3 motors are produced in Poland (PLMOT)

Q: Is the vc+754 (C5M) available in the M2BAX series?


A: No

Q: Is the VC+545 (China Compulsory Certificate (CCC)) available as stock


modification?
A: No

Q: Is there a specific reason to change to open Keyway? Is this a benefit


for the customer?
A: The open keyway was choosen in order to get a harmonized design thoughout the range

Q: When will we get the new updated General Performance catalogue


with the new motor data?
A: A new general performance catalogue will be available by the end of June 2016
Q: We often need information of the VC 183 sep cooling, the fan output
etc. Where to get this, clients often asks?
A: The variant code description for the code +183 will be updated to include this information

Q: M2BAX is available for AU MEPS and CEL from CNMOT (according to


the MEPS documents 3GZF500930-570). Will they also be available for
these MEPS from the stock?
A: We are working on getting them available also from stock

Q: Could we use the IE3 version for Japan MEPS (if fulfilling IE3 without
tolerance)?
A: No, not without checking each type separately

Q: Is the new updated catalogue/list covering Europe stocked motor


offering only?
A: Yes, the catalogue is covering the motors available from European stock, but the same motors are
available also from China, from production.

Q: Back to the end shields, can we have a list with part numbers for
both M2BA and M2BAX models (for modification part use)?
A: Please use the normal channels for the modification parts to get the part numbers

Q: As I understand M2BA will only be phased out in European stocks,


but its production continue in CNMOT?
A: No, the M2BA series will be phased out, globally

Q: Is M2BAX IE2 and IE3 available on BU price list?


A: Yes, the motors are available in the new ePrice price list
