How does text use features that convey ideas about masculinity

This text is an advertisement published by oregon center for nursing.

Its purpose is to appeal to scared men audience to persuade men to become nurses.
Conveying the message that any man can be a nurse and that it is cool to be a
nurse.Because mostly nurses are “feminin” and not “masculin”. And that men can
also participate in “feminin” activities.

Firstly, the advertisement shows in huge bold text “ are you man enough to be a
nurse” this message encourages scared insecure men to participate in the fabulous
job. The structure of the sentence is that half of it is at the top of the picture and the
other half is under the men standing. This makes the audience first read the upper
part, then have a good look at the men and after all of that reading the bottom part,
the bottom of each man in the picture, shows what they were before being a nurse
and what type of nurse they are now. This makes the reader fascinated how many
types of nurses there are, and maybe even thinking about being one. It also shows
where and what state or country they were in before. Also under the picture the
advertisement has a statement where every word that has a meaning is written in
capital letters and bold text for example “career, intelligence, courage, skill, unlimited
opportunity and nursing”.
Secondly, these words are full of meaning. It conveys a message that a nurse has a
huge success and you have “unlimited opportunity”. It encourages men to join by the
words because men love money, they love fame, intelligence and a good career. This
whole advertisement  shows that the stereotype that only women can be nurses is
not true and a man can be a nurse too if he wants. It portrays a feeling to the men
that “you shouldn't make a stereotype block your career”. The men in the
advertisement are standing as if they are heroes. Standing up straight, having their
heads up and looking serious into the camera. The way they stand shows that they
are proud and successful to be nurses. The picture itself is not colourful instead its
black and white, the picture portrays that the advertisement is not messing around its
deadly serious, “if a man wants to be a nurse he can”

In conclusion advertisement published by “Oregon center for nursing” has conveyed

a meaning to the men viewers that they have a chance to be famous, have a good
career and be successful in their lives if they join to be a nurse.
