DEPARTMENTAL EXAMINATIONS – MAY 2021

The Departmental Examinations are being conducted by the Tamil

Nadu Public Service Commission twice a year during the months of May
and December based on the syllabus and pattern lastly revised during the
year 2017.

In order to streamline the conduct of Departmental Examinations,

Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission is introducing Online Examination
from the upcoming Departmental Examinations which are to be held in
the month of June 2021.

Based on the suggestions received from various departments, the

revised syllabus and pattern have been hosted in the Commission’s
website www.tnpsc.gov.in.

With the introduction of Online Examinations, the following steps

are undertaken:

 The Departmental Examinations for Objective Type tests will be

conducted in Computer Based Online Test method.

 In respect of Descriptive Type tests the existing method of

manual written examination shall continue.

 In respect of Departmental Examinations for which a

combination of both Objective and Descriptive type tests is
mandatory, the candidates shall have to appear for Computer
Based Online Test for Objective Type and Written Test for
Descriptive Type separately.

It has also been decided to implement the above pattern and

syllabus from the forthcoming Departmental Examinations to be held
tentatively as given below:

 The Computer Based Online Test will be conducted from

22.06.2021 to 26.06.2021.

 The Descriptive Type Written Test will be conducted from

27.06.2021 onwards.

 The candidates appearing for the Departmental Examination

which is a combination of both Computer Based Online Test and
Descriptive Type Written Test shall have to appear for Objective
and Descriptive type separately on the dates allotted to them.

Prospective candidates for the Departmental Examinations are

advised to update themselves by checking the details in the Commission’s
website.
