Rockbolts for long-term support in applications where corrosive


environment can be expected

Most conventional rockbolts are not resistant to


corrosive environments. To avoid this problem in
mining and tunnelling applications, Atlas Copco has
developed special Swellex versions with corrosion-
protected coating. This coating consists of a single-
component, physically curing paint on a base of
bitumen modified rubber, specially developed for
corrosive protection in underground conditions.
When expanded, the bolt becomes fully protected as
the coating forms a barrier between the rock and the
bolt, preventing water and moisture from interacting
with the steel.
