Economy
New Zealand lives only on food exports
Many farmers in New Zealand breed sheep, so there are more sheep than people in New

The cattle is also very important in New Zealand. Now they have about 5,3 mill. cows, 90%
of the dairy products get exported. So New Zealand is the biggest importer of them in the
world. Also with beef products is New Zealand world wide on the first position. There are
about 4 mill. on the island.
Fruits that originaly grow in New Zealand are macadamia nuts, blueberries, kiwis and
avocados. At the production of kiwis New Zealand was the world leader until 1980. Now it is
only on third position, because Italy and China increased the production.
