I. Opening
1 – entertainment
Today, people have easy access to an astonishing breadth of
recreations.
2 – worrying
However, the ubiquity of entertainment, while celebrated by
many, is criticized by some. (decry)
3 – harm individuals + society
A school of thought holds that amusement has become more
readily available to the detriment of people and society as a
whole.
4 – that’s right

II. Body
Body 1 – harm to individuals from the popularity of
entertainment
1 – Topic: a lot of disadvantages
I believe the popularity of various forms of enjoyment is a
bane for individuals.
2 – promote harmful content
For one, people are more exposed to harmful (pernicious /
nefarious) content than ever before.
3 – nudity/ violence
For instance, violence is rampant in online mobile games and
nudity is prevalent in a significant number of videos on the
Internet. (unblushing nudity)
4 – work productivity
Second, the fact that entertainment is omnipresent is a
major distraction and materially/ catastrophically reduces
productivity.
5 – example: surf Facebook while working
It is not uncommon for office workers, for example, to
intermittently surf the Internet while they are at work – a
practice that is adversely affecting their efficiency and
performance.
Body 2
These corrosive influences on individuals will translate into
far-reaching implications on a societal level.
First, the increased exposure to violence through
entertainment directly breeds/ gives rise to more crime.
(Mortal Kombat, Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto, …)
Numerous mass shooting incidents whose perpetrators are
reportedly addicted to combat video games are a testament
to this trend.
Another glaring drawback is the monumental financial loss
that is incurred from diminished productivity.
For instance, the fact that many employees today play games
and surf the Web while working has allegedly cost companies
millions in damage.
III. Conclusion
In conclusion, … is a negative development for individuals
and society.
Describe a time when you watched the sky (stars: starry
night/ constellations/ stargazing/…)
Part 3:
- Is color important for clothing?
- Should coursebooks be colorful?
- What color do you think people would choose when decorating their
houses? (old people – conservative tastes -> tend to go with sober
colors >< young people … adventurous … bold choices … pink/ aqua
blue/ neon/ emerald/ burgundy/ -> some of these are questionable,
but some can be very tasteful)
