ArtZpace 2012 Guidelines
ArtZpace 2012 Guidelines
ArtZpace is an annual exhibition initiated by Pittwater Council. Developed as part of Pittwater’s Cultural Plan,
ArtZpace aims to: promote emerging local artists; give artists experience running an exhibition; and to offer the
community access to a high quality exhibition.
ArtZpace is open to young and emerging local artists. The exhibition provides selected artists with not only the
opportunity to display and sell their work in a professional setting, but also to contribute to the management
of the show. Under the guidance of a professional co-ordinator, artists market and mount the show, and build
invaluable skills and networks to support their careers as Art practitioners.
11 artists participated in ArtZpace 2011. Representing a broad spectrum of arts forms, participating artists
enjoyed a number of positive outcomes through ArtZpace, including sales, commissions, representation in
commercial galleries and strengthened peer networks.

Exhibition details
The exhibition will run from Friday 6 to Sunday 15 January 2012 (negotiable).
The opening night will be held on Friday 6 January 2012, from 6 – 9pm.
All activities organised within ArtZpace must abide by Pittwater Council regulations and policies,
including the Community Centres’ Terms and Conditions of hire.
Participating artists are encouraged to make the exhibition and any associated public program
activities their own. Artists may organise ‘meet the artist’ sessions, offer talks and workshops for the
purpose of professional development and provide further opportunities for the public to gain a deeper
cultural experience.
Depending on group numbers, each artist will have roughly 20 square metres hanging space (10m
width x 2m height), and potentially 14 square metres floor space to house plinths/sculptures.
ArtZpace is aimed at young and emerging artists. Priority will be given to applicants who are under 30 years
of age, and or those who have less than five year professional exhibition experience1. Artists with greater
professional experience will still be considered and are encouraged to apply. Similarly, local artists will be
given priority, however all artists are encouraged to apply.
The artists will be selected on the basis of artistic originality; merit and creative diversity across the
group; and a demonstrated commitment to furthering their artistic career.
Applicants will be advised of the judging outcome by post. The decision of the selection panel is final
and no correspondence will be entered into.
Artists are only eligible to show for two consecutive years at ArtZpace.
The application form and relevant attachments must be submitted by 5pm on Friday 20 May 2011.
Material submitted in addition to those requirements in the application form and checklist will not be
forwarded to the selection committee.
