1.

If six (6) people greet each other at a meeting by shaking hands with one another, how many
handshakes will take place?

Understand the Problem:

There are 6 people involved and two persons are involved in each handshake. Therefore, they will shake
each other once until the last person has shaken hands.

Devise a Plan:

let the 6 people be (Fin, Angel, Marj, Tony, Anton, and Alex) Fin-Angel, Marj, Tony, Anton, Alex (a total
of 5 handshakes) Angel-Marj, Tony, Anton, Alex (a total of 4 handshakes) Marj-Tony, Anton, Alex (a total
of 3handshakes) Tony0-Anton, Alex (a total of 2hand shakes) Anton-only Alex (a total of 1handshake).

Carry out the Plan:

This was the outcome of adding the total handshakes of the six persons. (5) + (4) + (3) + (2) + (1) = 15
handshakes

Revise the solution:

Assume that each individual shakes hands just once with each person they meet if they've already
shaken hands, regardless of who initiated the shake, and the result is 15 handshakes. By adding the total
handshakes that each people did by the use of solution this will be the representation.

Where

n= Number of people

2 = number of people per handshake

(n-1) = the number of people minus himself

So...

Handshakes =(n*(n-1))/2

n= 6 (n-1) =6-1=5

Per handshakes= 2

Execute:

= (6(6-1))/2

= (6(5))/2

=15
2. The product of the ages, in years of three (3) teenagers is 4590. None of them have the same age.
What are the ages of the teenagers?

Understand the Problem: There are three teens with a total age of 4590. There's also the fact that
they're not all the same age, thus the biggest issue is determining the ages of the three teens.

Device a plan:

We need to find three (3) separate counting numbers with a product of 4590 from the list 13, 14, 15, 16,
17, 18,

and 19.

-Determine which of the numbers 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, and 19 is divisible by 4590 (the product).

-Randomly select numbers from 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, and 19to get 4590 if the quotient using that
factor is a whole number the it will give you the right answer.

-Lastly if we get the exact numbers

-We can see that the number 4590 contains a zero at the end. As a conclusion, 4590 has a two

-factor and a five

-factor, meaning that at least one (1) of the numbers we desire is an even number and at least one (1)
has a five

-factor. The only number on our list with a factor of 5 is inside. As a result, one of the numbers is 15.

Carry out the Plan: Randomly select numbers from 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, and 19to get 4590. Given the
number 15as a correct answer.

Let's start with number 16:

4590/15/12 = 25.5(false)

Let’s try 19:

4590/15/19= 16.11 (false)

Let's attempt number 18

4590/15/17 = 18(true)

If we multiply 15,18, 17we will get4590 as the answer. Revise the Solution: Since it was given the
number 15 as the one of the teenager age because one (1) of the numbers we desire is an even number
and at least one (1) has a five-factor. The only number on our list with a factor of 5 is inside.
When you divide 4590 by 15, then by the even numbers we're about to evaluate, you should get a
whole number

that's greater than 10 but less than 20.

4590/15/17 = 18(true)Teenager 1= 15

Teenager 2= 17

Teenager 3= 18

= (15) x (17) x (18) = 4590
