In the corner, leaning against the wall, sat the little girl with red cheeks and smiling

mouth, frozen to death on the last evening of the old year.

It’s quite familiar to all our fellow toastmasters, isn’t it? The ending of a moving story:
“THE LITTLE MATCH GIRL” 
But this evening, let’s come back to my 10th year old to see what happened and see
how was my ending similar to it?

Can you see me? An energetic boy, very powerful with full of hope and love, and I
wanna tell you a secret: It’s is “HAPPY BIRTHDAY”. Yes, today is my birthday and I
have just come home. I am very excited because “look at this, my house is so dark” 
I think that my parent turned off all lights to prepare a big party for me. So, let’s
check my guess
“1, 2, 3… No one? Mom, dad? I know that you want to make me surprise”
“Hmm Ok, I’ll pretend as if I didn’t know anything, (sợ hãi giả bộ) why is my home so
dark?”
I would go out and step into my house again to let them make me surprised
“Again, 1..2..3.. Booom”
There’s still no one, “Dad, mom” then I ran around my home and tried to find
someone, then I found a message: “Baby, I am so sorry, we have extra work so
today we cannot be with you, but we will buy you the gift for your Christmas later”

“Wait, wait wait, extra work, alone, at my birthday, they didn’t even say anything
about my birthday. Oh my god, I can’t believe that :) they have decided to leave me
alone.”
“Ok, so without them, I’m fine, I will watch all favourite films, eat all I like and don’t
brush my teeth before going to bed haha’
I started my birthday party myself, running around home and playing with lots of toys
but 1 hour, 2 hours then I felt empty. “Why did they leave me? They haven’t bought a
birthday gift for me of yet.” – Khóc nha baaa

Thở dài, tựa đầu vào ghế => it started colder, I kept crying, feeling cold, fear, and a
little hungry. Then I accidentially find a hột quẹt. Turn on

Suddenly, |…|…| (tiếng cười ông già noel)

“Hohoho, why is my baby crying?”
“Santa, huhuhu, it’s my birthday and I haven’t received the gift”
Everything becomes darker, the gift appears
“Oh, my expensive gift, I am looking for only you”
But just after 15 minutes, I felt so sad again, I didn’t like this gift anymore, it didn’t
make my birthday more interesting 
The fire was off, and I turned it on again
Woww, a woman was stepping slowly, “My mother, she has never been so beautiful.
She takes me in her arms, feeling like I am flying in brightness and joy above the
earth, very, very high, and up there is neither cold, nor hunger, nor fear-as she’s
here with me.”
But…
The fire couldn’t keep longer, and I came back to reality, however I realized in that
moment, the thing that I desire most was not the expensive toy but more than it, it
was memories and moments playing with my parents, it was my mother hugging.
Never have I thought that some familiar things happening everyday was so far.
My birthday passed with me lying on the floor, a little cold and hungry, like the little
match girl, but I was luckier than her, I had home, I knew that my parents were
working very hard for my expensive birthday gift that I had asked for. Therefore, I
understood the little match girl very much, she was so poor that some simple things
that a child deserved, she couldn’t get it and was frozen to death.

After that night, I’m standing here I become treasure the gift that God gives me every
day, it is the chance to watch mother’s smiling, to hear my dad calling to wake up.

Dear our fellow Toastmasters, especially our newbies, not too long that Christmas
will come tomorrow, maybe, it’s the last Christmas that one of you’re with your
parents before leaving home to study at another city or another country, let’s tell
beautiful words to them, if not now then never ^^.

the warm and enthusiastic atmosphere.
