To Specify the Contents of the PDF


Document

1. Open a drawing, click File > Save As > Save a


Copy, and specif y PDF (*.pdf) as the file type f or
export in the Save a Copy dialog box. The PDF Export
Set t ings dialog box opens.
2. Click the Cont ent tab on the PDF Export Set t ings
dialog box to specif y the contents in the PDF export,
including inf ormation f or navigation and search.
The f ollowing drawing or f eature attributes are
specified by def ault:
◦ The visible layers and model parameters are included
in the export.
◦ Bookmarks are set f or zones, views, drawing sheets,
and flag notes.
◦ Stroked f onts that are not TrueType are used f or the
text.
◦ The standard PDF f ormat is selected f or the export.
◦ The hyperlinks are active.
3. Click All under Layers to export all the layers on the
drawing or click None to export the visible entities on
the drawing, but not the layers on which they are
placed.
4. Click Designat ed under Paramet ers to include only the
specified model parameters or click None to export
the drawing to the PDF f ormat without the model
parameters.
5. Generate bookmarks f or all or some of the f ollowing:
◦ Zones—Makes the PDF zoom in to the corresponding
predefined region on the drawing sheet.
◦ Views—Makes the PDF zoom in to the corresponding
extents of the view which is a predefined region on
the drawing. No view bookmark is generated f or a
drawing with only 2D entities.
◦ Sheet s—Displays the corresponding drawing sheet.
Single- sheet drawings are ignored.
◦ Flag Not es—The instances of the flag notes are
listed in the bookmark. If the instances of the flag
notes are on a sheet other than the current sheet,
the corresponding drawing sheet with the instances
of the flag notes is displayed. The PDF zooms in to
a flag note when you select the flag note.
6. Click St roke All Font s to create text as stroked line
segments or click Use TrueType Font s to use
TrueType f onts. St roke Non TrueType Font s is the
def ault. The Add Searchable Text check box that
makes text searchable is selected by def ault f or
stroked f onts.

  The Add Searchable Text check box is not


available when you click Use TrueType Font s.

7. Select PDF or PDF/A–1 as the f ormat f or the export in


Save As under Compat ibilit y.

  You cannot export layers to the PDF/A- 1 f ormat.


If you select the PDF/A- 1 f ormat, the Layers
options are not available on the PDF Export
Set t ings dialog box.

8. Retain the selection of Act ive Hyperlinks, which is the


def ault, to export notes as active URLs in the PDF
output or clear this check box to export notes with link
properties only as label text.
9. Click OK on the PDF Export Set t ings dialog box. The
file is exported with your content settings.
If a dialog box prompts you to substitute f onts that
are not embedded in the PDF- A/1 files, click OK every
time the dialog box opens f or each f ont that is not
embedded in the PDF- A/1 files.
