Our New Favourite Place To Go To While In
Manipal

Delta or Kodi Bengare Beach is the meeting point of the river Suvarna and the
Arabian Sea and oh my god, the view is stunning. This hidden beach in Udupi is
perfect for a day trip with fresh seafood and beach bumming.

The Best Of Both Worlds

Located 18km from Manipal University and the town of Udupi, the Delta Beach or
Kodi Bengere beach is located in the small sleepy town of Kodi Bengere. A half an
hour bus or car ride from Udupi/Manipal leads to Hoode, from where you can walk
on a road, dotted with houses and surrounded by river on one side, and beach on
the other. A secluded, not so popular beach makes it a peaceful, serene and quiet
spot to spend an afternoon. Walk along the sand, or take the road, and enjoy the
silence. You could even be lucky and find a doggo to accompany you on that walk!
Keep an eye out for the fishermen casting their nets away, getting the fresh catch of
the day.

Surf & Turf

The end of the road is what the beach is named after, and what you really came
here for. Climb a few rocks and you’re welcomed by a stunning view of river
meeting sea. Do not forget the camera, you cannot miss out on taking a few shots
and testing those photography skills. Hungry? No worries. There is a small shack
{look out for a yellow house on your right. The shack is on the opposite side} on the
way that serves mind blowing seafood and neer dosas, at really cheap prices. Every
dish cooked here is made with love, oil and spice — from the opposite house. Be it
prawn curry, rava fried prawn, fish curry or fish fry— everything is super fresh and
delicious. Once the plates of neer dosa start flowing, trust me, they do not stop.
Don’t forget to try the freshly made toddy as well. You can even BYOB. Want to surf
and make a nice day trip out of it? Then the Shaka Surf Club nearby is the choice for
you. While there isn’t any good place to stay on the beach itself, but Manipal/Udupi
is just a half an hour drive and offers plenty of options to stay across budgets.
