Dear Sir or Madam,

My name is Keremet Begmatova, and I have a Bachelor’s Degree in the Design of Architectural Environment at the
Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University in Kyrgyzstan. I have decided to apply for the Interior and Spatial Design
Program at Politecnico di Milano because I am confident that it would strongly enrich my knowledge and abilities as
it is vital for me to broaden the horizons.

Joining your academic program would be a perfect chance to get to know closer my field of study in the place that
keeps the history of architecture on its streets. Additionally, I consider this program a great opportunity to get in
touch with the European educational system. I am very curious about different approaches to design at Politecnico di
Milano University which appears to be on top of the list in design and architecture. As I have searched classes on the
program, I see the difference from what we studied in Kyrgyzstan, and I am keen to learn new. Only experience,
both good and bad, makes you grow and gets you to the spot where you let yourself be. I feel that my interests and
passion for design make me an excellent addition to this program as well as for me- it would be a major shift to my
career as a designer.

I see myself as a creative person. In my childhood, I draw on every wall, where I could reach out with my hand. I
have always had cravings for beauty but I did not want to be good-looking or to wear fancy clothes. For me, beauty
contains a feeling of pride and confidence. It transformed into a comprehension that my interest could be a real
professional job. I have chosen to be a designer because this work is about not only making things pretty but
significant. Design is everywhere. It ranges from simply turning your light on to what you see while surfing the
internet. When beauty meets comfort, it results in tremendous satisfaction. When I started to work, I got a request
from a company called “Brand House” to make an urgent project design for their new office in a building that has
just been put into operation. The client wanted a modern designed office that must fit all of the workers and be
divided into zones. After approval of a concept, I did floor plans, the technical part, renders of the future office in a
short time of about 20 days. The hard part for me was that I had to give out floor plans and technical descriptions
while the renovation was carrying out into reality. I did this part successfully, and the client was pleased to have all
the features that were not only looking good but thoughtful with functionality. Currently, I supervise the works,
which should be finished by 2021 April. It is always a pleasure for me to lead projects because each of them
challenges me with certain needs. Another project I was making is a showroom for the tile company “Tubadzin”. It
was a new practice for me because I had to understand more about tiles: how to organize all size formats,
collections, functionality properly in the existing area. The result impressed the client with its simplicity, modern
look; and most essential wide open space that was ruined before by all the stuff in the previous showroom. The
client was convinced that with no doubt fresh design brings them more clients.

Design is when doing wrong is right. What I adore in design is that it has no boundaries. You are not tied to start
whatever crazy idea you have. It is only about developing completely and thoroughly to make your weirdness come
true. Sergey Makhno and YOD design studio are my favorite examples to follow. Starting from small, they gained
popularity and now represent themselves as designers from Ukraine that can raise the bars worldwide. I have a
strong desire to influence the value of design and architecture in my home country. The Soviet period has left grey
concrete buildings which are mixed with a boosted quantity of residential buildings. The whole picture, along with
no landscape design, ruins the appearance of cities. As for interiors, people in our country are not informed about
what they could have besides notorious classic luxury styles, usually with no taste. By these days, I have mostly
worked in interior design. I love my job, but I want to go beyond my potential and continue my education, that is
why I find Politecnico di Milano to be a perfect starting point to achieve my goals and be among those whom I
admire.

Thank you for considering my application.

Sincerely,

Keremet Begmatova
