New Features:
=============

Bring To Front:

You may select a hot key to bring PentaCalc to the front of all windows by
selecting "Bring To Front" from the "Option" menu. You will have the choice of
selecting F11, F12, Shift-F11, Shift-F12. Alt-Fll, Alt-F12, None, or Always.
However, "Bring To Front" is not available for Windows 3.0 users.

Tape Keypad Setup:

A new menu item has been added to the "Option" menu entitled "Tape Keypad Setup".
This item will allow you to change the operation of the "Enter" key on the keypad
when using the Tape/10-Key calculator. You may have the "Enter" key function as a
Plus, Subtotal, Total, or Equal. This only affects the Tape/10-Key calculator. In
all other calculators, the "Enter" key will function as an Equal.

New Unit Conversions:

Four new types of units have been added to the Unit Conversions calculator:
radioactivity, radiation exposure, radiation absorbed, and angles.

Configure Warning Messages:

A new menu item has been added to the "Option" menu entitled "Configure Warning
Messages". By selecting this item you will be able to enable or disable several of
the warning messages that appear in PentaCalc. By default, all of the messages are
enabled. As you become more familiar with PentaCalc and the circumstances under
which these messages appear, you may wish to disable some of them.

Automatic NumLock:

PentaCalc will automatically turn NumLock on whenever it is activated or brought to

the front of the desktop. NumLock will be restored to its previous status after
PentaCalc is closed or sent to the back of the desktop.

Changes:
========

Case Sensitivity:
Hot-keys are no longer case-sensitive except when using the Hexadecimal base. In
this base, only the letters "A" through "F" are case sensitive. For example, "a"
will send an "All Clear" and "A" will send the hexadecimal digit "A".

Number of Digits:

PentaCalc will now allow a total of 14 digits to the left and right of the decimal
place in all calculators except the Tape/10-Key which will allow a total of 12.

Time (Days) Base:

It is no longer necessary to enter all four digits of the year in the Time (Days)
base. You may now enter only the last two digits and the appropriate leading
digits will be added automatically.

Clear Key:

A "Clear" key has been added to the Time Value of Money calculator. Selecting this
key will clear all of the Time Value of Money registers except "P/Yr", or
specifically: "N", "I%Yr", "Pmt", "PV", and "FV". It will also clear the current
display. The manual asks you to select the "AC" key to clear the Time Value of
Money registers in it's examples. You should now use the "Clear" key to do this
instead.

Beg/End Mode:

The Time Value of Money calculator has been changed so that the Begin/End mode is
selected by one button that toggles the display instead of two radio buttons. The
current display on the button is the mode you are in. To change modes, simply
select the button again.

Keyboard Tips:
==============

When in the Hexadecimal base, you can access the "A - F" keys by pressing the shift
key combined with the desired letter between "A" and "F". Of course, you can also
access the "A - F" keys by clicking on them with the mouse.

The Unit Conversions calculator has hot-keys to access all of the buttons except
the combo box which provides a list of available unit types. This combo box can be
selected from the keyboard at anytime by pressing the "Tab" key. After selecting
the combo box, you can move between the different unit types by pressing the up and
down arrows.

All of the keys in the Tape/10-Key calculator can be selected by keyboard, but to
edit the tape you must first press the "Tab" key. Pressing the "Tab" key afterward
will toggle the cursor between the three edit fields of the tape. To move up or
down the tape, press the up or down arrow keys. When you move to a new position,
you may completely type over the old text or use the backspace key to edit it. To
finish editing a field, press the "Enter" key or move to a new position with the
"Tab" key or up and down arrow keys.

Notes:
======

Menu Bar:

In some video modes which use large fonts, you will not see the traditional
"Penta", "Calc", "Option", and "Help" menus. Instead, you will see "Penta",
"Calc", "Opt", and "?". However, there is no functional difference between the two
sets. This is done so that the menus do not wrap onto a second row.

Files Which May Be Deleted:

You may delete 'WINHELP.EXE' if you are running Windows 3.1, however, you must make
sure that your Windows directory is in your path. 'WINHELP.EXE' is only necessary
for Windows 3.0 users. Deleting this file should save you around 256K.

PentaCalc Status File:

A file entitled PENTA.STS will be saved to your Windows directory every time you
close PentaCalc. This file saves the various settings and configurations available
in PentaCalc. If it is deleted, PentaCalc will revert back to its default
settings. The file is saved to the Windows directory so that when PentaCalc is
installed on a network file server, each computer accessing PentaCalc can have it's
own configuration.
