identify the basis of classification of constitution and distinguish

constitution from one another based on various ground.

Constitution: are widely classified into two categories firstly written and unwritten,
secondly rigid and flexible.
A written constitution: is the one of the in which the fundamental principles concerning state
administration are embodied and which has as a specific document been passed by specific
body so written constitution can be produced and shown as a single document.

Unwritten constitution: is the constitution has not been passed formally as a specific document
by a specific body and the fundamental principles concerning state administration exist in
political customs, judicial decision and in some scattered documents.

A constitution: has been defied as a body of rules established to regulate the system of
government within a state. The reason for drafting codified constitution is usually associated
with the time in which particular state is formed or associated with a major change that has
taken place at national level.

Codified, un codified, flexible, inflexible constitutions.

That difference between a codified and un codified constitution is also reflected on the fact that
what u unwritten in the constitutional document becomes a superior law that can only be
judged by a constitutional court. This brings us to another classification of constitutions as a
flexible such as the British constitution that can be amended with ease, and inflexible such as us
constitution, which contains entrenchment that make it very difficult to make constitutional
changes.

In Britain, the constitution remains un codified and Bogdan or argues that the reason for this
are both historical and conceptual. The former reflects the fact that British history has
remained continuous since 1689, and there has not been an obvious break which would have
called for drafting a codified constitution. The strong comments that a classification of
constitutions on the basis of whether they are written and unwritten is illusory. It is of course,
sometimes necessary to distinguish between the so called written and unwritten constitution
and whenever we needed to do so, we shall refer to the former as a documentary and to the
later as a non-documentary constitution.

The principle divide regarding the use of the term constitution has to do with tis reference to
either certain function or the certain form. The constitution in the first cooptation comprises
those elements that perform what are traditionally understood as constitutional functions.

The constitution in the second connotation refers to the formal written charter, a form that is
now nearly universal among modern states. To understand the conceptualization, tha of
constitution as function, we should clarify what scholars view to be the traditional purpose of
constitution. Central idea here is the limitation of government power.
