A Guide to wearing the Uniform

Body Art, Tattoos and Body Piercings

The backgrounds and age groups of our customers are wide-ranging and we recognise that some may be sensitive
and not altogether comfortable with body art, tattoos and body piercings.
Therefore, the rule is simple - employees need to cover up visible tattoos or other body art and remove any visible
large and excessive body piercings.
Tattoos
Unless a tattoo is to honor cultural tradition, it must be covered up while in the workplace. If you have a tattoo in an
obvious area you will need to cover it up using an appropriate tattoo camouflage, concealer make up or discreet skin
coloured tape.
Body Piercings
Staff can display two discreet body piercings on either ear. Any other body piercings likely to be visible need to be
removed while at the workplace. Piercing jewellery needs to be a simple small and unobtrusive stud or sleeper.

Any piercing regardless of size or type will need to be removed if it represents a potential safety risk.

When it comes to Personal Presentation

 Always keep your appearance neat, clean and tidy.

 Keep your hair well cut, off the face and professional.
 Avoid bright, multi colored hairstyles or fad / extreme haircuts or hairstyles.
 Long hair needs to always be tied back while at work.
 Make up should be light with coverage suitable for day time. (No heavy eye shadow, powder or foundation.
 No rips, tears or ladders in stockings or pantyhose.
 Clean Shaven or alternatively facial hair needs to be well trimmed and always kept neat and tidy.
 Good personal hygiene is one of the most effective ways to protect yourself as well as your co-workers and
others, from illness so practice good personal hygiene habits.
 Avoid wearing too much or too strong a perfume or cologne. Overpowering or heavy perfume or cologne can
cause problems for people with allergies or suffering from asthma.
 Keep fingernails clean, neat and tidy (that means no chipped nail polish or excessively long fingernails)
 Keep Jewellery and accessories simple, safe and discreet.
