Performance Test

The performance test for 30-P-FW-01 was done on 17-Sep-2020 to re-evaluate the performance of the
pumps after performing some maintenance works.

The next figure shows the performance curves obtained from the test done on 17-Sep-2020.

Observations

It is obvious from the curves above that 30-P-FW-01 suffers about 7.5% reduction in TDH at the rated
point with a 0.5% improvement compared to the test carried out in 16-Mar-2020 as shown in the next
figure.

According to American National Standard for Centrifugal Pump Testing - ANSI/HI 1.6-2000, the
acceptance tolerance in total dynamic head (TDH) at the rated capacity of a pump with total head from 60
m to 150 m is +5%, -3%, therefore, 30-P-FW-01 test is not accepted.
Recommendations

Based on the above observations, the following recommendations should be taken into consideration:
1. 30-P-FW-01 should be examined for decreased performance and should be handed over to
maintenance if necessary.
2. According to the following photo, the flow meter used in the test is analog and strongly suspected
to be inaccurate. Acquiring reliable readings is deemed so difficult therefore; this flow meter must
be changed to digital, units of
measure to be changed to m3/h
instead of USGPM. Its range must
be reduced to maximum 620 m3/h
similar to those meters installed in
MIDOR refinery in order to obtain
more accurate readings in addition
to readings at low flow and close
to shut-off pressure.
