Barkha Ayekpam
Imcha Imchen is a 21-year-old
Mumbai based naga singer,
songwriter, and producer.  He has
been signed by springboard
records under Ashish
Manchanda(entertainment
business entrepreneur, recording
engineer and music producer).

At a very young age, music was something he got more interested, 

involved and into with it and eventually learned to play the Guitar and
Keyboard which helped him with his performance and since then its
music that kept him going. By 2012, he began posting covers and
originals of songs in his YouTube channel. Imcha later gained exposure in
2018, with the release of his rst music video “Moving on”.
He was also a part of the boy band “Imchen Brothers” a Gospel/Pop boy
band along with his two younger brothers after releasing three local
albums across Nagaland and parts of Northeast India – the brothers
disbanded at the year 2016. Their rst album was a huge success in the
northeastern states of India.it was also broadcasted in Doordarshan
Northeast. Their very rst album was a huge commercial success in
Nagaland and also aired on all the local channels. After completing his
12th boards in humanities from Bethany junior college Bangalore,  he
studied in Christ university for a year for the course of (Theatre, English &
Psychology) later dropped out to pursue Audio engineering and Music
production thus improving & learning the skills of music-making. And
later moved to Mumbai to make his name in the music industry.

He started showing interest in music at a very young age of three. His
father was a pastor and used to travel a lot while spreading the gospel
through music and that always inspired him. His parents supported him
as well as his brothers to inculcate music as a hobby but it took time for
Imcha to convince his parents about him pursuing a career in music he
said,” Yes! I am nally getting the support from both of them and really
feels so good actually but lemme tell you it was one huge task to
convince my dad when I had told him that I wanted to drop out from
college to pursue music. Parents want what’s best for their children but if
you really want to achieve your passion, goal, aim, etc just “prove it” to
them. I am sure they’ll understand”.
On asking whether Imcha had plans to reform music in Nagaland, he
said, “Haven’t really thought of that. But I really hope with my music
releasing this year can make a di erence in the way people look at
Nagaland and northeast on a whole and also at the growing talent of the
youth on a whole. And my music is really di erent from the ones you’re
hearing. And I promise you its gonna make it to your playlist”.  Imcha’s
song that earned him fame- ‘moving on’ was nominated for various
categories including ‘song of the year’ in the music awards of Nagaland.
His upcoming music video ‘sinner’ is releasing in august 2019 and he is
truly grateful to all his fans and believes that it’s ok for the dream to take
time as long as it happens, he’s willing to give music his everything and
humourously expresses that music is his better half.
