CAUSATIVES

Causative verb digunakan untuk menunjukkan bahwa orang pertama

meminta orang kedua melakukan sesuatu untuk orang pertama. Causative
verb : have, get, make, let, dan help.

1. Have /get
Active

Subject + have (any tense) + object + V1 + ...

Active

Subject + get (any tense) + object + intinitive + ...

Passive

Subject + have/get (any tense) + object + V3 + ...

Contoh :
That boss had that woker paint his house. (that worker painted his
house)
That boss got that worker to paint his house. (that worker painted his
house)
That boss got his house painted. ( his house was painted by somebody)
That boss had his house painted. (his house was painted by somebody)
The teacher has had a cruel student answer the question in front of the
class.
The teacher has got a cruel student to answer the question in front of
the class.

2. Make
 Make hanya dapat digunakan dalam kalimat aktif. “Make” lebih kuat
dari have atau get karena make berarti force.

Subject + make (any tense) + object + V1

Contoh :
A stranger always makes his victim give the password.
(a stranger always forces his victim to give the password)

3. Let
“Let” dalam causative bermakna allow atau permit.

Subject + let + object + V1

Subject + permit/allow + object + infinitive

Contoh :
My mother let me go to cinema with my friends.
(my mother permitted me to go to cinema with my friends)
(my mother allowed me to go to cinema with my friends)
TIPS : V1, V2, dan V3 let yaitu let.

4. Help
Help dalam causative bermakna assist.

Subject + help + object + V1/infinitive

Contoh : john helped the old man with the packages (to) find a taxi.
