Why take

therapy?
find answers to the

burning question
is therapy the answer?
If your question is ‘How do I start taking care of myself and
nurturing my soul?’, then yes, therapy is the answer.

Everyone says we shouldn’t make

decisions when we’re upset, but did you
know why?

Think of your wrist as the brain stem, it's responsible

for basic things like breathing and keeping your
heart pumping

Your thumb, tucked in, sits in the middle, just like the
amygdala is in the centre of the brain. The
amygdala is responsible for sensing danger &
telling the rest of our brain and body

Your fingers are like your pre-frontal cortex - that's

the part of the brain that helps us manage
emotions and make complex decisions

When our amygdala sounds the alarm, our pre-frontal

cortex can't do it's job and we "flip our lid". That's why
it can be so hard to make thoughtful decisions when
we are upset. In these moments, our brains need to
take a break to reflect and reconnect

Therapy can teach us how to make better decisions and

how to understand ourselves and our mind better!
what is therapy? who are

mental health professionals?

Therapy is your first step towards self care. Sometimes we

struggle with personal issues, or we need better coping skills.

Sometimes we want to know ourselves better, and sometimes

we are undergoing psychological distress that results in clinical

concerns. For any of these and more, therapy is a journey you

take where you and your mental health professional learn,

understand, discover and create new ways to improve the

quality of your life.

Mental health professionals range from counselling

psychologists, clinical psychologists, psychotherapists,

psychiatrists, life coaches, career counsellors, therapists etc.

Each of them are trained differently, but with the same goal of

aiding you in discovering your best self! Feel free to ask your

mental health professional what they are trained as :)

Umm, Do I need therapy!?

Sometimes when there is extreme distress and we need

professional guidance on navigating through it, we do

need therapy. But every other time when you are reminded

of you being human know that you would benefit from

therapy. Therapy isn’t always about ‘symptoms’ or ‘going

crazy’. Therapy is about how we perceive experiences,

things we’d like to change/start/stop, feelings we’d like to

understand or overcome. Therapy is literally your minds

peer, a safe space where you talk and let out, without fear

of judgement.

45 million individuals suffer from depression in India.

45 million have had symptoms of anxiety.
20% of the population has access to mental health
professionals.
Does talking help?

You can play Ludo by yourself online, but isn’t the

experience more enriching with someone else?

Sometimes, our thoughts need a companion too - to

help us untangle emotions, join the dots, find that Eureka

moment, actively find a resolution. Mental Health

Professionals will encourage you to talk, will listen to you

fall
patiently and without judgement. But they will always

back on their knowledge, experience and training to

help you get to a place where you feel content.
Can I trust you?

Yes.

We understand how brave it is to share your vulnerable

side with another human being. We assure you that our

therapists are trained to keep all details confidential with

them - from your name to any and every thing you speak

about. Our website undergoes frequent technical checks

and everything is encrypted. The notes your therapist

writes for you are only accessible to them and you.

At MindPeers, the team understands how valuable

confidentiality is. Our personal passion, compassion and

experiences serve as constant reminders to uphold your

privacy and confidentiality.
