1. Identify the type of antenna for each radiation pattern of the following figure.
a) Izotropic
b) Omni directional
c) Directional

2. Represent the radiation diagram in the vertical and horizontal plane

What is the relationship between length of the antenna and frequency of work? Find the physical
length of the antenna.

Lambda = c/f = (1 * 10^8) / (300 * 10^6) = 1 m

Lambda/2 = 0.5m
3. Represent the input impedance of an antenna, the reflection coefficient and VSWR and
determine analytically the reflection coefficient and VSWR, where 𝑍𝑍𝑍𝑍 = 50 Ω. Does the
calculated VSWR have the same value as the one given by the program?

Za−Zc 74+𝑗𝑗∗1.69−50 24+𝑗𝑗1.69

𝑆𝑆11 = Г = = = ≈ 0.1935
Za+Zc 74+𝑗𝑗∗1.69+50 124+𝑗𝑗1.69

1+|𝑠𝑠11|
VSWR = ≈ 1.479
1−|11|

4. Change the working frequency at 600 MHz. How did the radiation pattern changed? Make a
comparison between the radiation pattern from 3.2 and 3.4.
Comparing with the gain from the previous one, the gain is bigger, the new one being 3.64 dB,
because the frequency was increased. The radiatioin remains the same

5. .Calculate the boundaries of the field regions according to the formulas for f=600 MHz.
Represent the antenna in the near field and then in the far field. Determine from the Pattern
window the values of the electric field and magnetic field for the previously calculated 𝑟𝑟 in
the reactive near-field conditions.
F = 600 Mhz
Lambda = 0.5m
D = 0.5m
Near field: r<0.62 * D => r < 0.31m
Far field: r > 2D => r > 1m
Radiating near-field: 0.31<r<1

Near field:235.8 (0.2) Near field: 0.737 (0.2)

Radiating near-field: 123.9 (0.6) Radiating near-field: 0.312 (0.6)
Far field: 71.84 (1.1) Far field: 0.193 (1.1)
