1. Matter: Anything which have Mass and occupy spaces (Volume) is called matter.

It is made
up of tiny particles called Atoms & Molecules. E.g Air made up of oxygen, hydrogen,
Nitrogen Molecule
2. Mass : - Quantity of a matter in a physical body
3. Volume- The amount of space occupied by a physical body is called volume.
4. State of Matter: It is one of the distinct form in which matter can exist depending upon its
surroundings and molecular arrangement.
5. There is four state of matter – Solid, Liquid, Gas & Plasma
6. Solid- The molecules are tightly packed and are close to each another and there is very little
space between them, thus this prevent molecules to free movement that’s why solid has
occupied a definite shape.
7.

SOLID LIQUID GAS

Molecules are Molecules are less Molecules are
tightly packed tightly packed loosely packed
Fixed shape and Don’t have any fixed Neither fixed shape
volume shape but have fixed nor fixed volume
volume
The cant flow The can flow The can flow more
easily than liquid

8. The state of change of matter taking place by applying external energy like heat. All such
changes are reversible.
9. Liquide to Solid – process- Freezing – Heat take off – e.g Water to Ice
10. Solid to Liquid – Process – Melting – Heat add – e.g Ice to Water
11. Liquid to Gas – Process – Vaporisation – Heat add e.g water to water vapour
12. Gas to Liquid – Process condensation – Heat Take off – e.g water vapour in to water
13. Solid to Gas – process Sublimation –heat add – e.g Camphor
