India’s green energy economy received $7.27 billion FDI since 2014-15

• India’s green energy industry received foreign direct investment (FDI) worth
$7.27 billion from 2014-15 till June 2021, according to the Ministry of New
and Renewable Energy (MNRE). Of this $797.21 million came during 2020-
21.

2014 -2019 renewable energy programmes and projects in India attracted an
investment of $64.4 billion. In the year 2019 alone, $11.2 billion were

cardholders’ data

RBI extended deadline for Periodic KYC Update till March 31, 2022

 • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has extended the deadline for periodic
Know Your Customer (KYC) updation in bank accounts till March 31, 2022,
from the previous deadline of December 31, 2021, due to the Omnicron
variant of the COVID-19 in India.
• भजरतीय ररज़वा िैंक (RBI) ने COVID-19 के Omnicron संस्करण के कजरण, 31 बदसंिर,
2021 की बपछली समय सीमज से 31 मजचा, 2022 तक िैंक खजतों में अपने ग्रजहक को र्जबनए

• The deadline was extended so that no restriction can be placed on bank
accounts related to cash deposits, withdrawals, etc. due to non-compliance
with KYC requirements.

Government approved 19th Tranche of Electoral Bonds

• The government has approved the issuance of the 19th tranche of electoral
bonds, which will be open for sale from January 1 to 10, 2022, ahead of
assembly elections in five states Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab,
Himachal Pradesh and Goa.

• In the 19th tranche of sale, the State Bank of India (SBI), has been authorised
to issue and encash electoral bonds through its 29 specialised branches.

• There is no limit on the number of bonds an individual or company can
purchase. An electoral bond will be valid for 15 days.

What is Electoral Bond?

Electoral Bond is a financial instrument, used to make donations to political parties.

These bonds are issued in multiples of 1000, 10000, 1 lakh, 10 lakh and 1 crore
rupees, without any maximum limit. SBI is the only authorised bank to issue these
bonds. From the date of issuance, the bonds are valid for fifteen days. They can be
redeemed in designated account of a registered political party. Donor’s name is not
mentioned on it.
Who can purchase the bonds?

Any person, who is a citizen of India or is established in India, can purchase these
bonds, for a period of ten days each in the months of January, April, July and
October. Person can buy bonds wither singly or jointly with other individuals.

• The Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan has launched

‘Padhe Bharat’, a 100 days (14 weeks) reading campaign. The campaign
has been organised from January 01, 2022 to April 10, 2022.
• केंद्रीय बशक्षज मंत्री श्री िमेंद्र प्रिजन ने 100 बदनों (14 सप्तजह) पढने के अबभयजन 'पढे भजरत' की
शुरुआत की है। यह अबभयजन 01 र्नवरी, 2022 से 10 अप्रैल, 2022 तक आयोबर्त बकयज
गयज है ।
 • Padhe Bharat is in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP)
2020.

• It will emphasise on promotion of joyful reading culture for children as well as
ensure availability of age appropriate reading books for children in

• Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched the Digital Life Certificate
system for pensioners virtually while attending the orientation programme for
newly recruited 153 officers of Odisha Civil Services.
