SPIRITUAL SELF
The spiritual self is described by Caracolores as the invisible part of who we are that provides
our physical self with insight, intuition, and other ways of knowing beyond what our five senses
experience in the physical world. These five senses, on the other hand, serve as access points or portals
into experiencing the spiritual self. The spiritual self is divided in to 2 categories which is the spirituality
and the religious. Spirituality refers to an person's own way of searching for meaning or connecting to a
higher being while religious means believing in a god or a group of gods as manifested by strict
adherence to the religion's beliefs.

Among the two categories I can very much relate to Religion as one part of my spiritual self.
Religion focuses on the belief of a supernatural being and power or an almighty god is the original and
fundamental source of all that exists. The major religions include Christianity, Islam, Hinduism,
Buddhism, and Judaism. I myself am a Christian, and a Catholic to be exact. In our discussion we talked
about all the different beliefs which existed in the spiritual sense. Not only religion but also the beliefs of
rituals, witchcraft, and magic. Being a catholic I can describe my spiritual self as someone with a mission,
to serve God and live an honest life so I can deserve a place in heaven. I believe this to be true, others
may say otherwise, but I will always believe this to be true, while others have other beliefs that they
may believe, in the end our spiritual selves have one goal, and that is to make sense of the unknown, to
find a deeper meaning to our lives.

In the last part of our discussion we tackled about the story of Viktor Frankl and his story of his
life and how he found the meaning that he sought. To be honest, I was touched by his story, a life that
lived in grief but ultimately began to be a beacon to others who are also lost. There were 3 ways to
discovering the meaning of life, it was by creating a work or doing a deed, by experiencing something or
encountering someone and through suffering. Through this lesson I have realized that I am still not at
the point of my life where I can say I have found the purpose or the meaning of my life. I am still a long
way to discovering it, however I am going to do what I can now, to help me open up doors that would
hopefully lead to my calling in life.
