Chapter I TDL Control System Overview

1.1 Introduction to TDL control system

The control system of TDL transverse flow zipper machine is a new type of control system for flow
zipper machine developed and innovated on the basis of conventional flow zipper machine, combining
with years of product development experience in the industry.
While maintaining the high control accuracy, easy operation and friendly interface of the company's
previous products, it adopts the imported PLC control unit as the main control tool, and the color touch
screen as the human-machine exchange platform, which makes the product more reliable, operable and
easier to maintain.

Chapter IV Main Film Parameters

4.1 "Main Film Parameter Settings" page

Page 10
Welcome to use the control system of TDL transverse flow zipper machine

Fig. 4.1
Enter the "Main Film Parameter Settings" page by touching the "Next Page" on the
work homepage, as shown in Fig. 4.1. Touch the "Work Home" button in the lower left
corner of the "Main Film Parameter Settings" page to return to the work homepage, or
switch the screen to the corresponding function page by touching "Auxiliary Functions",
"Temperature Alarm" and "Zipper System". See Chapter V, VI and VII for details.
The "Main Film Parameter Settings" page contains the parameter settings such as heat
sealing and punching related to the main film, among which the maximum speed, preset
length, preset speed, point heat sealing time, main film heat-sealing time 1, main film heat-
sealing time 2, main film cooling time and working mode have been detailed in the work
homepage.

4.2 Formula selection

By modifying the size of this parameter value, users can invoke the corresponding
formula parameters saved in the system. System parameters are automatically saved under
the corresponding formula values.
For example: if the current recipe is 00, then all the parameters are saved in the
formula 00; when the formula is switched to 01 and the parameters of 01 are set, the set
parameters will be automatically saved to the formula 01. The next time it is switched to
formula 00 or 01, the system will directly invoke the parameters saved for each formula.

4.3 Times feed

The times feed is needed when the bags to be produced by users are too long (which
Page 11
Welcome to use the control system of TDL transverse flow zipper machine
usually means that the product is too long, so that the main film cannot be heat-sealed
properly). The length of a bag can be divided into N segments; N times is set under the
times feed mode; and the preset length of the main film is set to 1/N of the total length. Up
to fifteen times feed can be set in the times feed mode.

4.4 Segment position

The "Segment Position" parameter is used to control the corresponding heating knife
action during system operation.
When the "Times Feed Mode" is 01, the system is not in times feed status. At this time,
if the "Segment Position" of the corresponding heating knife is selected as 01, the knife
will move every time upon the main film finishes feeding, and will not move when it is
not 01.
When the "Times Feed Mode" is 03, the system is in three times feed status, which
means, it feeds a whole bag by three times of action. At this point, when the "Segment
Position" of the corresponding heating knife is selected as 01, the knife only moves at the
end of the whole bag, namely, by the end of three times of main film feeding; when the
"Segment Position" of the corresponding heating knife is selected as 02, the knife moves
after the first feeding is finished; when the "Segment Position" of the corresponding
heating knife is selected as 03, the knife moves after the second feeding is finished.
"Segment Position" of N times feed is shown in Fig. 4.4

Start of bag 02 03 04 05 ...… N 01 End of bag

Fig. 4.4

4.5 Heat seal advance time

This parameter is used to set the time of each advance of the heat sealing knife.

4.6 Acceleration

This parameter is used to set the maximum acceleration of the motion curve of the
main film servo motor, with a range of (0.04~1.5) x gravity acceleration.

4.7 Photoelectric range, off-mark stop and photoelectric tracking mode

"Photoelectric Range" refers to the length of the color mark searched by the trailing
end of the main film under the operating mode of "colorful bag".
"Off-mark Stop" refers to the maximum number of times the continuous color mark is
lost of the main film under the operating mode of "colorful bag". When the value is set to
3, if the main film loses color marks three times in the “colorful bag” working mode, the
system will stop with alarm. If it is set to OFF, the main film alarm function at the time of
Page 12
Welcome to use the control system of TDL transverse flow zipper machine
losing color marks is turned off.
The left side of "Working Mode" contains the main film photoelectric indicator and the
switch button of photoelectric tracking mode, which can be selected as "UP", "DOWN"
and "AUTO", so as to determine the way of searching color mark at the end of main film
traction. "UP" is the ascending edge search; "DOWN" is the descending edge search; and
"AUTO" is the automatic tracking search.

4.8 Punching method, time and segment position

These three parameters are used to control the punching action of the main film.
"Punching Method" can be selected as "Forbidden", "Continuous" and "Interval";
"Punching Time" determines the preservation time of the punching action; "Punching
Segment Position" determines the start position of the punching movement, which is the
same as the heating knife "Segment Position".

Chapter V Zipper Parameters

5.1 "Zipper Parameter Settings" page

Page 13
Welcome to use the control system of TDL transverse flow zipper machine

Fig. 5.1

Film Parameter Settings" page, as shown in Fig. 5.1; touch the "Back" button in the lower
left corner of the "Zipper Parameter Settings" page to return to the work homepage. This
page contains the relevant parameters of the zipper action.

5.2 Action selection and working segment position of zipper

"Action Selection of Zipper " is used to determine whether the zipper system is
working or not, and whether the "Working Segment Position of Zipper " is the
same as the heating knife "Segment Position" in the previous text.

5.3 Transport clip length, transport clip time and conveying translation time

"Transport Clip Length" is used to determine the distance for conveying the servo
motor to transport the zipper, that is, the distance for conveying the servo traction;
"Transport Clip Time" refers to the clip action time of the transport clip electromagnetic
valve; "Transport Translation Time" refers to the ejection action time of transport and
ejection the electromagnetic valve.

5.4 Zipper traction length and guide clip time

"Zipper Traction Length" is used to determine the length of the zipper, that is, the
Page 14
Welcome to use the control system of TDL transverse flow zipper machine
distance of the guided servo traction. "Guide Clip Time" is the clip action time of the
guided clip electromagnetic valve.

5.5 Clip delay return time and guide traction ratio

"Clip Delay Return Time" refers to the pause time after the guide servo finishes
traction. After the pause time is over, the guide serve returns. Setting this parameter can
effectively protect the servo motor and make it run smoothly.
"Guide traction ratio" defaults to 100%, and a modest increase in this ratio can keep
the zipper straight.

5.6 Cutter time, ultrasonic time, heating knife valve time and cooling valve

time of zipper

"Zipper Cutter Time" is the punching action time of the zipper ; "Zipper Cutter
Ultrasonic Time" is the maintenance time of ultrasonic wave; "Zipper Heating Knife
Valve Time" and "Zipper Cooling Valve Time" are the action holding time of heating
knife valve and cooling valve.

5.7 Highest speed of zipper system

"Highest Speed of Zipper System" is used to display the maximum working speed of
the zipper system under the current parameter settings.

5.8 Zipper detection stop times

"Zipper detection stop times" works in the same way as photoelectric "Mark-

missing Stop". When the "zipper detection stop times" is 0, the zipper is missing and
not stops.

6.2 WebExhaust, FilmBreakAlarm and Correction alarm

By directly touching and switching the alarm on and off, the left indicator is used to
indicate the corresponding sensor signal, and is displayed in green when the signal is
received.

6.3 The main web length and The zipper web length

When the parameter setting is not 0 and the WebExhaust is turned on, the system will
alarm and stop after the main film or zipper of the specified length is unwound; when the
parameter is set to 0 or the WebExhaust is off, this function is invalid.

contains the relevant parameters of the temperature control system.

7.2 Temperature Anomaly

"Temperature Anomaly " actions are divided into "No Action", "Alarm", "Alarm &
Stop", and users can directly switch them by touching.

7.3 Temperature alarm example

The upper deviation is 10, the lower deviation is 10, and the set temperature on the
main page is 100.
If the "Temperature Anomaly" action is "Alarm", the normal range of the actual
temperature sampling value is between 90 and 110; when the temperature is lower than 90
or greater than 110, the circuit temperature will alarm but not stop. The number
background of the circuit temperature on the homepage will be yellow and will flash
intermittently and regularly. If the "Temperature Anomaly" action is "Alarm & Stop", the
normal range of the actual temperature sampling value is between 90 and 110; when the
temperature is lower than 90 or greater than 110, the number background of the circuit
temperature on the homepage will be yellow and will flash intermittently and regularly.
Meanwhile, the system will automatically alarm and shut down.
Note: When the actual temperature of a certain channel is more than 250 degrees or
Page 19
Welcome to use the control system of TDL transverse flow zipper machine
when a break-off occurs, the channel sends an alarm and cannot cancel it to prevent the
wrong wire connection or the breakdown of the heating solid, which will make the
temperature keeps rising and goes out of control, so as to damage the heating knife, even
cause the knife to melt seriously. Therefore, users should pay special attention when the
actual temperature is greater than 250 degrees or a break-off occurs. The actual
temperature display "2222" indicates that the thermocouple of the circuit temperature
detection is damaged or not properly installed.

7.4 Temperature correction example

e.g. The temperature correction value is 10, and the main page is set at 100
Then if the system has a true sampling value of 100, the actual temperature is
displayed as 100+10=110.
