According to a new poll, viewers
and listeners are becoming
increasingly concerned about
the use of racially offensive
language on television and
radio.
According to Stephen Whittle,
Director of the Broadcasting
Standards Commission in
England, profanity and harsh
language are commonplace in
everyday life and may be
allowed in a program aimed at
adults.
The use of foul language on
television has no justification.
This is inexcusable. How can a
parent effectively discipline a
child who uses foul language
when all they hear on television
is filthy language every minute?

to highlight a point.

use harsh language because the
ability to express drama and
emotions was already existent.
Sorry, no swearing on television
or in the movies for me.
Because all drama is based on
conflict and danger, poor
language isn't necessarily bad; it
all depends on the context. It's
okay as long as it's not overused
and the watershed is visible to
my eyes.
Please don't put anything on
our displays. It's easy to observe
how widespread it has become
just listening to youngsters on
their way to school.

When we laugh or accept it
passively or actively, we should
not be blaspheming or
endorsing it. It's all too simple
to reply, "...use the off
switch...," but that isn't the
solution.
Everyone who has purchased a
television license has the right
to be educated and amused as a
result of their purchase.
All of the violent programs on
so many series are nothing
compared to bad language. I'd
rather hear someone say a four-
letter word than see someone
get beaten to death or killed in
a TV show. The majority of
individuals use bad language on
a daily basis. This is not the
case.
