‘Set feet on stones where royalty once walked, witness rulers and their near

and dear ones reduced to dust and enclosed in tombs.’

Lodhi Garden is a city park in New Delhi, which is spread over 90 acres. The garden was
originally set up in the 15th and 16th centuries, which was during the Sayyid and Lodhi
dynasties. The garden also houses the tombs of rulers of the era, such as Muhammad Shah
and Sikandar Lodhi. The Lodhi Garden was redesigned in 1968 and it is the design that we
see this very day. Although the garden was established centuries ago, it is still well-preserved
.Lodi’s were a Pashtun dynasty which ruled over several parts of North India in the 16th
century, before the Mughal empire came into force. They are not as popular as the Mughals,
but they have left bits and pieces of their legacy behind in Delhi, the Lodi Gardens being one
of them. Today, these lush, tree-shaded gardens – a favoured getaway for Delhi's elite, local
joggers and courting couples – help protect more than 100 species of trees and 50 species of
birds and butterflies, as well as half a dozen fabulously captivating 15th century Mughal
monuments.

The post card I designed delivers a message that “Beauty of nature combined with
architectural brains results in magnificent works such as the Lodhi Garden.”
