1. INTRODUCTION
PROBLEM STATEMENT
Agricultural studies who undertake their project such as growing of food in green
houses have a challenge in water and also depend on rain to undertake their projects
due to changing weather patterns it is hard to grow crop throughout the year.
Much of water is used by studies for washing and cleaning hence no enough water for
irrigation in the campus for agricultural students

Design objectives

Design of a rainwater catchment system upper Kabete campus for irrigation of

tomatoes

Specific objective
Establish roof area required to collet water

Establish Design of a storage water tank

Establish the demand of water in the area

Literature Review

Rainwater is collected from the roof top, which is the catchment area. Rainwater can be potable
or non-potable water demand, and it can also be used to control flooding in buildings. A
rainwater catchment system consists of components for transporting rainwater through pipe
filtration and tanks for storing harvested water. The catchment surface delivery system and
storage reservoirs are common components of a rainwater harvesting system.
