"Can't rotate element into this

position" when rotating mechnical

equipment component in elevation
and section view in Revit

Issue:
When rotating mechnical equipment component in elevation and section view in Revit project, an
error message shows up "Can't rotate element into this position" .

Solution:
Follow the steps below to modify the mechanical equipment family:
1. Open the family, in Family Categories and Parameters dialog, make sure the family category is
Mechnical Equipment.
2. In Family Categories and Parameters dialog, check option "Always vertical".
3. Select the geometry, for example, the extrusion, a special icon shows up, right click it, select
Dissociate to make the extrusion not associated with the workplane.
4. Load the family into project, and now it allows to roated this family in elevation and section view.
