WHERE IS HERE?

Prequel
•Years ago, when he was a child, the
stranger lived here. To be more
precise, he used to live in that family’s
home. But his past was something of a
mystery.
-Why did he want to -Why did he not enter
visit the home again? the master bedroom?

-Why was he all over -Did he tell any lies

the place when he when he was talking
visited again? about his past?
• Unlike what he said, he was the only child. As a
child, the stranger had somewhat of a traumatic
past. But it wasn’t always like that, before this
agonizing period started, he used to live happily with
his mother and father, but as stated in the original
story, his mother died a long time ago. After his
mother's death, his father changed a lot, he started
smoking, drinking a lot at home, going out at
bars, and coming back late, and what made it
worse, beating his child. As time passed, the stranger
started despising his father for what he had
become. Sometimes he would try yelling at him for
coming back home late, and he would get beat up
by his father who would take him to the basement
and make him spend the night there.
• The stranger is no longer a child that doesn’t know
anything about this world, he started being more
dependent, he learned how to cook for himself, buy
his own clothing, studying, he even got a job that his
father didn’t know about.
• After- turning 16 the stranger decided to face his father and
just run away from home, “father you have destroyed
yourself over the years” the stranger said, “I have tried to
get you back, I have tried helping you out of the misery you
have been for the past years, but I have decided that we
will no longer live together” The father screaming “Misery?!
Do you know who are you talking to? Do you actually think
that you can live on your own out there? Do you know how
cruel the outside world is?” The stranger replies “Thanks to
you, I know how cruel it is more than anyone, and for the
past 2 years I have learned a bunch of stuff that will help me
survive out there, goodbye father.” With a frown on his face
the stranger leaves the house. The father screams again
“You will be back for sure, you won’t make it alone!”.
• As time passed the stranger didn’t hear anything
about his father, he tried forgetting about him but
he couldn’t. After many years of thinking about the
incident, he decided that he should try to make a
visit, appearing at the family’s house, which was his,
to him not finding his father still living in that house
meant to the stranger that his father passed away.
The stranger realized that it is too late to visit his
father, he starts to lose control of his emotions in front
of the family. He doesn’t enter the master bedroom
because he thought that going in there wouldn’t be
a good idea because it might remind him of his
father and mother.
