Energy sources
LISTEN AND COMPLETE THE TEXT WITH THE WORDS FROM THE BOX

The most important energy sources today are (1.) _non-renewable_________ energy
sources – that is, sources which we won’t be able to use at some point in the future.
Non-renewable energy sources include all fossil fuels – that’s (2.) _coal________,
natural gas and, of course, oil. From (3.) __oil__we get petrol and diesel which most of
the world’s cars run on. When we burn fossil fuels they produce (4.) _carbon_dioxide_
which many people believe contributes to (5.) __global warming____________. Non-
renewable energy sources also include (6.) _nuclear________ energy which is
produced using the metal uranium. Nuclear energy is a clean source of energy that
does not cause global warming but can be very dangerous.
(7.) renewable ___________ energy sources include all energy sources that are
produced more quickly than we use them. For example, solar energy from the sun,
wind power, (8) _hydropower__________ using water, waves and tides, and (9.)
_geothermal_______ power which uses underground heat. These energy sources are
(10.) ___clean sources_________ of energy which do not cause wide-scale global
warming. At the moment they do not (11.) __supply_______ a large amount of energy
but in the future (12.) _ renewable ____________ sources will definitely play a much
bigger role.
