Learners face many challenges in reading , such as pronunciation, correct phrasing and
difficulty understanding of what they read. Strengthening remediation is a key to help
1 learners with reading difficulties. In the K to 12 Curriculum most of the subjects in the First
and Third grade are thought in Mother Tongue and this could be one of the factors that
affect the learners second language which is English
Reading teachers play an important role to help learners improve their reading ability ,
2 they are the one who can help the child improve reading speed and comprehension to its
fullest.
The safety of the researcher and the learners during the conduct of the research are very
3 important since the child is not allowed to come to school it is very difficult to conduct a
remedial lesson.
Strengthening remedial lesson in a modular distance learning is a challenge since it is
4 pandemic the teachers and the learners are not in the same room and technology is one
of the ways teachers can use to help struggling readers .
Continuing to refine reading routines especially to learners with difficulty in reading

despite the pandemic through the help of video lessons
6 Teodora Cruz Elementary school aims to make every child a reader however based from
the result of Phil-IRI Pre Test in English 26 out of 125 learners got the score of below 14 in

The researcher will be using interactive video lessons about reading that will strengthen

reading remediation and help learners improve their reading ability.

Learners who have reading difficulties need to undergo remediation to cope up. Strengthening
remediation techniques of teachers could be a powerful tool to help pupils developed their reading
speed and reading comprehension. Reading difficulties are experienced by children either because
they fail to decode the words and thus are unable to comprehend the text or simply fail to
comprehend the text even if they are able to decode the words and read them out. Failure in word
decoding results from a failure in phonological coding of written information, whereas, reading
comprehension difficulties emerge out of difficulties in focusing on relevant information, perceiving
the interrelationship among obtained information, strategic thinking, lack of vocabulary knowledge,
inability to make inferences and lack of reflective knowledge of language while reading according to
Journal of Education and Practice, v6 n19 p57-63 2015.In the study conducted by European Journal of
Educational Research, v8 n4 p1269-1286 2019 For developing reading skills, the strategies of "prior
listening to the paragraph", "repetitive reading" and "word repetition" may develop reading skills of
the learners. Interactive video lessons when often times watch and heard by pupils may help them
repeat and remember words like in the face to face scenario when you ask pupils to repeat the
words that you read they easily pronounce it and later on remember it.

Significance of the Study


Significance of the Study
Learners The learners through the use of interactive video lessons improve their
reading comprehension and speed up their reading ability. It helps them
become curious active and interested in reading
Teachers The teachers can use the interactive video lessons as a tool so that readers
engage and devote time in reading. It can help teachers improve their
remediation lesson technique
School Administrators The study findings may help to plan reading program for the school
Curriculum Planners The result of the study to develop reading remediation program for the school
Future Researchers The result of the study can be the basis of future study with regards to the
reading development of the pupils

Scope
In this part, the following information must be discussed: general goal of the study, population or sample,

This study is intended to strengthen remediation to enhance reading speed and comprehension among
Grade 4 pupils for the S.Y. 2021-2022 of Teodora Cruz Elementary School

The study will be focus on the enhancing of reading ability of the pupils by strengthening remediation
through the use of interactive video lesson to those pupils who got below 14 in their GST Phil -IRI Pre-
test
