September 27, 2023, Wednesday my first day of observation, I was excited and at the same time

nervous thinking how will this day end. Entering the Candon National High School Campus, I parked
my motorcycle in the parking area, then proceed to have my attendance near the gate. Right after
everyone is finish writing their names on the attendance sheet or log book, we went to the
principal’s office. As we wait for the principal’s instruction, I look around the office and saw how well
it is. We can see the different portraits, there are lots of trophies too. The office is so clean, well
ventilated and well lit. The principal instructs one another as to where department we will be going,
and of course it is base our field of specialization or major. After the other observer who has different
majors went to their respective departments, the principal accompanied us to the Araling
Panlipunan Department. He instructs the teachers the things they need to consider and what they
should do. After that, he left while we stayed inside the department with other PT and AP
professional teachers. As we sat down, the teachers asked us to introduce ourselves, and after that
they told us who will be our critic teacher. The first one to follow her CT for class observation was
Ma’am Valencia, followed by Ma’am Benito, while the others including me waited in the department
for our CT’s. When Ma’am Torres was preparing to go in her class, she asked me to follow her since
she is her my CT. As we went outside, she talked with a teacher about some problem related to a
student and its problematic parent but right after that we proceed to her class. She introduced me to
her class right after the opening prayer. I went at the back as I observe the class during the
discussion. They had a review about the (4 na Kabihasnan), which are Mesopotamia, the Indus,
Tsino and Africa. Btw, the room I was in during this class was the Science Building Room 5 Grade-8
Durian. In this class, there are 29 students in total during this time. As the discussion goes on, I saw
how active the learners are. Ma’am Jessa implemented an interactive learning during her class. She
also asked questions and ideas from the students, in other words she applies the so call art of
questioning during the discussion. She motivates the students to participate in the discussion by
giving plus points for those who can give the right answer for her questions. Of course, she also
gives rightful punishment for those students who does not behave. With this, I saw how effective this
style really is for having the class participation. I was also given a chance to introduce myself in her
other class, it felt really rewarding specially when you hear the word sir. It just gives me the
motivation to pursue this course. Though I’m not yet a professional teacher, I can feel the respect
and how welcoming the students are. To be honest, it was a very tiring day for me but also one of
the most enjoyable days I had ever experienced.
