The story tells in a simple way the differences between cultures. You can see that it is in a place in South
America, possibly in Brazil, (near the port) where there are groups of fishermen and a lot of poverty.
Manuel, who is one of the protagonists of this short story, was running away from the problems at home.
Surely trying to channel them and clear his mind a little, while observing the dirty and smelly "landscape"
that surrounds him, as well as a boy, who is fishing on the banks of the river... a fish taking its last breath in
a puddle on the pavement.

On the one hand, we see a grown man running away from problems and trying to figure out how to solve
them, and on the other, we see a boy struggling with problems bigger than his little body can handle and
working to bring home some money. Added to this mix are two individuals who are oblivious to their
surroundings, in addition to being in the wrong place and with a minimal understanding of culture and
humanism. These last characters show how far we are as human beings from empathy and solidarity with
our peers in society. The story touches on a central and extremely important issue. And that is the socio-
economic and socio-cultural disparity that exists in the world. But above all, the lack of humanism in our
society...
