0. Introduction

The third-year students of Urdaneta City University, College of Health Sciences -Nursing
Department responsibly conducted a study in the community of Barangay Poblacion, Malasiqui,
Pangasinan with the goal of motivating and seeking wide participation for the improvement of
the community through collection, collation, analysis and interpretation of data which includes
statistical data, identification of problems and priority setting for Community Health Diagnosis of
Barangay Poblacion, Malasiqui, Pangasinan for the year 2022.

The word "community health nursing" is made up of three main concepts: client (client),
health (objective), and nurse (the means). Nursing practice in the community comprises the use
of a variety of techniques to react to clients' health needs.

This activity is designed to assist communities in developing a consensus about the

priority health problems in their individual communities and developing strategies to address the
issues identified. The completion of the Community Diagnosis process should answer the
following questions for the community:

1. Where is the community now?

2. Where does it want to be?

3. How will it get there?

II. General and Specific Objectives

General Objective:
This study emphasizes the current health status of Barangay Poblacion, Malasiqui,
Pangasinan through a comprehensive community diagnosis.

Specific Objectives:
 To establish rapport with the community officials and members and uphold Urdaneta
City University’s standard of a professional nurse for us to identify foreseeable health
problems.
 To familiarize ourselves with the community and observe first-hand what goes out and
about the confines of the barangay to determine the existing and foreseeable crises of
the district
 To collect data regarding the community’s health status through interview with the key
informants of the barangay and through a survey for the rest of the citizens in the area,
then evaluate the gathered data.

III. Significance of the Study

The significance of the study in general is to identify the existing problems of
the  Barangay Poblacion, Malasiqui, Pangasinan. This study will  be helpful to the barangay
officials to implement rules and regulations to address the identified health problems
and  to  improve  the health  status  of the  community. As a result of this research, Barangay
officials are aware of the need to protect the people who live in their area. The relevance of this
study is to protect the population from health dangers as well as health threats,  and to be
aware of and knowledgeable about their present health status and current situation. And lastly,
for the researcher they will be able to identify, recognize, and familiarize how to facilitate and
conduct  the community survey and also broaden their understanding of community health
diagnostics that can assist Barangay Poblacion residents in identifying their issues.

IV. Scope and Limitation/ Delimitation

This research study was conducted by BSN 3rd year students of Urdaneta City
University at the Barangay Poblacion, Malasiqui, Pangasinan from January 10 and
ended on January 17, 2022 from 8:00 am up to 5:00pm. This research covers 10
families of Barangay Poblacion, Malasiqui. It focuses on the community’s
demographic data, environmental aspects, and community as a social system, health
management, risk factors and also the spot map. It also gathers the key informants’
knowledge about the community’s current status and their activities. The records of
the community coming from the barangay officials are also included in this study but
the budget of health, source of health funding, and hospital bed population ratio are
not included because it was never mentioned by the barangay officials.
This study has a limited number of families and questions that can only be answered
in the community survey tool. The whole information on this research is only limited for
Barangay Poblacion, Malasiqui. The class used Random Sampling kind of research to
be able to know the general perception, practices and information about the whole
community.
The Key Informant Interview Group was not able to gather data about the Sewerage
System because the Barangay Councilor for the Infrastructure had no idea about the
development of the Sewerage System. Also, they were not able to interview the
Physician because the physician undergoes to personal appointments

the extended type, this account for 1 family or 10%.
URDANETA CITY

Analysis: Mostly the type of family structure in Barangay Poblacion is nuclear family
that united by ties of partnership and parenthood and consisting of a pair of adults and
their socially recognized children. The modal household is nuclear but the family is
extended in so far as relationships are concerned. Filipinos also tend to be independent
once they started their own families. The presence of extended family in the community
is because if they are going to be nuclear it will be relatively more differential and costly
to put up a separate household. It is also more economical to stay together.
Health Implications: Health can be a top priority in a nuclear family. First and foremost,
because they are smaller in size than the extended ones, and they have more health
resources. With their parents on their side, children learned what is right and wrong. A
strong sense of solidarity characterizes the nuclear family. Health can also be easily
managed in an extended family because extended families can help each other with
health issues. People in an extended family have a stronger sense of belonging
because they are a part of a larger family, a larger entity. Because Filipino families
enjoy gatherings and extended families, it is possible for an individual to have a high
social status.

Interpretation: The Philippines proudly boasts to be the only Christian nation in Asian. In Barangay
Poblacion more than 68.4% of the population is Roman Catholic, 21.1% belong to Iglesia ni Cristo and
10.5% belong to Born Again.

Analysis: The Philippine is the only country in Asia which Christianity is the national religion. This is
probably the result of the Spanish Catholic reign in the Philippines for more than 300 years.
