Write Action Research Prompts

1. OBSERVE
In assisting my Resource Teacher, I observed that personal traits such as passionate, determined,
humourous, and patience were practiced and professional competencies like assessing and
collaborating were least displayed and as a result, students were not able to know their status or
learning as they fail to comprehend the learning materials with the teachers instruction. They were
not able to do their task as collaboration within the class was not properly executed due to online
issues or due to the environment they were in.
2. REFLECT
The lack of these personal traits and professional competencies (mentioned in #1) may be caused
by lack of learning /knowledge and practice or maybe due to lack of passion or eagerness in
making an impact on a student's life. It may also be due to the environment that drives them to
display those qualities least or the availability of facilities. Observing my resource teacher, I
realized that being content focused and lacking creativity could make the class a little lazy to learn
and displaying a little attention to assessing students makes students relax with their performance.
As a result, students don't learn like in the real classroom. Therefore, missing one of those
personal traits or professional competencies could have an imbalance effect or unsuccessful
impact to learning of students.

3. PLAN

I would like to address this problem (mentioned in #2) by conducting an action research on the use
of worksheets to assess students' performance and evaluate their learning which could help
students not only to learn and develop concepts by themselves but also help them evaluate
themselves.

4. ACT

a) The main objective of my action research is to determine the effects of worksheets on student
performance.
b) My specific research questions are:
● what is the performance of students before using Worksheets
● What is the performance of students after using Worksheets?
● Is there a significant difference on the level of performance in the use of post test and
pretest after using Worksheets
● Based on the study, what strategic intervention can be proposed?
c) To answer my specific research questions, I have to conduct a study on the use of worksheets
to improve the learning process of students. First of all, I have to look for my respondents
where I could use the intervention. To begin, I have to employ a pretest and then use
intervention to use a post test to be able to monitor its effectiveness on students.
