Good afternoon, Mrs. Butler,

I will be happy to assist you with your tax return this year. You are correct regarding your W2

form, your friends are earning income without an employee status and in return receive a 1099.

What I will need from you, is a copy of yours and Mr. Butler’s W2, ID, Social Security numbers,

and if you wish to file jointly or separately. As well as tax forms for all other form of incomes. I

understand you received interest and dividends; this will require two 1099 forms. A 1099-INT

which is used for interest payments, and a 1099-DIV which is used for dividends earned.

Expense receipts will be needed to identify any deductions. Regarding your homeowner’s

expense, a loan certificate or a mortgage credit certification from the lender, receipts of real

estate tax, and mortgage interest payments are the required documents. For your children, I will

need each of their date of births and social security numbers for each qualifying child. A

qualifying child is:

They are under the age of 19 or under 24 if a full-time student for at least 5 months out of

the year or is totally and permanently disabled.

 They did not provide more than ½ of their own support. Scholarships are considered

third party support and not as support provided by the student.

 They lived with the parent for more than half the year.

The child tax credit is only available for qualifying children. When it comes to tax breaks for

your children being in school knowing their which grade level and amount of time can be helpful
