Dr. H.

Gayle,
Juici Patties,
UWI, Mona Campus.

Dear Dr. Gayle,

The Faculty of Science and Technology Guild Committee (FSTGC) began simultaneously with the inception of the

Faculty of Natural Sciences in 1949. In evolving into the Faculty of Science and Technology, the Faculty on a whole

underscored the necessity of the FSTGC as its paramount student leadership body and entrenched student leadership

organization into its charter. The main functions of the FSTGC are to advocate on behalf of the students, host engagement

activities and institute developmental programs. The Committee itself comprises of three cohorts, the department

representatives, hall representatives and the executives. The FSTGC engages and represents a populous of over 3,000

students, which is larger than some political constituencies and the organization is grounded on principles such as high student

activism, hosting of quality events and programs and advancing student welfare and development. The vision, mission and

objective for the upcoming academic year are as follows:

Vision: Restoring Trust and Renewing Inspiration for Change.

Mission: Enhancing the quality, impact and scope of leadership through partnership; realising the true UWI vision.

Objective: Throughout the next academic year, the UWI Mona Guild Council will endeavour to regain the trust and belief of

the students in student leadership by maintaining a high standard of excellence. All activities will be geared towards

addressing student issues at the institutional, national and regional level through advocacy and engagement.
After a successful election period, I (Ramone R. Jackson) became the Faculty of Science and Technology President and by

extension Faculty of Science and Technology Guild Representative for the 2016/17 academic year and also selected 32

students to complete the FSTGC. In keeping with our mandate to provide quality events and activities and to further student

development, the Faculty of Science and Technology Guild Committee (FSTGC) has embarked on a number of partnerships

with corporate entities with the aim of fostering a mutually beneficial relationship. One such corporate entity that we hope to

partner with is Juici Patties. Through this partnership, the FSTGC will be able to raise the standard of student representation

by enhancing student welfare and improving the overall student development. Juici Patties will see benefits from the

establishment of a strong presence on campus, garnering new customers and creating a sense of customer brand alignment

with students on campus. It is the aim of this proposal to establish a relationship between the Faculty of Science and

Technology Guild Committee and Juici Patties, and to create beneficial possibilities for both parties.

As a means of fostering new partnership, we would like to have Juici Patties on board for our Inter-Department

Championship. The information is as follows,

Inter-Department Competition

This is a relatively new initiative geared towards the students integrating and networking among their peers, also

giving them the opportunity to display their sporting abilities and/or academic skills. It also seeks to promote

gender equality and to reduce violence among the students of the Faculty of Science and Technology and by

extension, the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus. Plus, it seeks to attract upwards of 500 patrons per

event. This championship comprises of a male (standard) football competition, female netball rally, chess

tournament, domino tournament and quiz competition.

The football competition is scheduled to commence at the UWI Mona Bowl on Thursday, January 26, 2017 and

should be played every Thursday leading up to and including our faculty week (February 12th – 18th, in particular

February 16th) and comprises of eight (8) teams from the various departments within the faculty for each of the

sections or discipline within the competition.

We are requesting:

 Three (4) Cases of bottle water per Thursday (Match Day);

 Two (2) Cases of Energy Drink;
 Food or Snacks.

Also, sponsor one of our trophies which will be titled “Faculty of Science and Technology Juici Patties Cup” for the
competition which will see both parties benefiting as it increases both our visibility. This trophy lasts for Twelve (12) years
and can be renewed and this will also be seen as Juici Patties giving back to their customers as said faculty is in the vicinity of
the franchise and majority of the customers are from here which is the Faculty of Science and Technology. Alas, from basic
marketing knowledge, this will definitely increase the customers on and off campus as it sets Juici Patties apart from the
others on campus

I look forward to a favourable response as we seek to make this competition a successful and engaging one.
Also, sponsor one of our trophies which will be titled “Juici Patties FST Cup” for the football competition which will see both
parties benefiting as it increases both our visibility. This trophy lasts for Twelve (12) years and can be renewed. This will also
be seen as Juici Patties giving back to their customers as said faculty sits immediately behind the franchise and majority of the
students have engaging labs and presentations which automatically sees Juici Patties being the restaurant of choice for most if
not all. Alas, from basic marketing knowledge, this will definitely increase the customers on and off campus as it sets Juici
Patties apart from the others on campus.

Below, table 1 shows the estimated cost and breakdown of the sponsorship.
