Re: Proposal of Partnership between The Faculty of Science and Technology Guild Committee 2016-
2017, UWI Mona and Senator, The Honourable Pearnel Charles Jr.
The Faculty of Science and Technology Guild Committee (FSTGC) is the arm of the University of The West
Indies Mona Guild of Students which serves as the official body of representation for all registered students in
the faculty. As the newly elected and appointed Faculty Representative, I have appointed thirty four (34)
students to form the 2016 – 2017 FSTGC who will assist me with executing my entrusted duties. Under my
leadership, the FSTGC is dedicated to rebuilding faculty pride, morale and promoting integration among all
Science and Technology students. In an effort to achieve the said objectives, a special emphasis has been
placed on the committee engaging the students through various competitions that will increase integration
among peers and staff.
Consequently, I am hereby seeking to establish a partnership between the Faculty of Science and Technology
Guild Committee 2016 – 2017 and Mr. Charles.
A trophy for our netball competition which is scheduled to commence at the UWI Mona Bowl on
Thursday, February 9, 2017. Start time is 2:00p.m and is to take the form of a rally (One Day).
This is a relatively new initiative geared towards the students integrating and networking among their peers,
also giving them the opportunity to display their sporting abilities and/or academic skills. It also seeks to
promote gender equality and to reduce violence among the students of the Faculty of Science and
Technology and by extension, the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus. Plus, it seeks to attract
upwards of 500 patrons per event. This championship comprises of a male (standard) football competition,
female netball rally, chess tournament, domino tournament and quiz competition.
The netball competition will take the form of a one day rally and is scheduled to commence at the UWI
Mona Bowl on Thursday, February 9, 2017 and this would be the Thursday leading up to our faculty week
(February 12th – 18th) and comprises of eight (8) teams from the various departments (one team per
