The Philippine national government, through its Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious

Diseases, outlined different quarantine measures to mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic,
with each level having a corresponding degree of rigidity, ranging from keeping only essential businesses
open to allowing all establishments to operate at a certain capacity. Other measures include barring
people under a specific age category from leaving their homes. Depending on the magnitude of the
pandemic in their area, local government units (LGUs)–municipalities and provinces–can take any of
these measures. The goal is to keep the number of infections and deaths low while limiting the
pandemic's economic impact. The COVID-19 epidemic has elicited a remarkable response from several
LGUs. The goal of this project is to use quantitative tools to discover important non-pharmaceutical
interventions in these distant LGUs across the country.

Strict border control, early lockdown implementation, development of quarantine facilities, efficient
public communication, and monitoring efforts were the distinguishing aspects that assisted these LGUs
in limiting the pandemic's impact. It would enhance any country's readiness for future health
emergencies if these rules were uniform.
