Culture depicts social differences and that what makes a person diverse and

special.
We all know that culture is engraved in our well-being, from the day we see light
and experience greatness in this amazing world and community. One of the great things
that I am thankful for is my Filipino culture who influenced me BIG TIME! Filipinos are
known to be hospitable. Why so? Whenever there’s an occasion or even gatherings, they
really welcome them with open arms and a smile on their faces. The “mano po” is a term
and an action to show respect to the elders. I usually do this when visitors and relatives
come to our house. In addition, “bayanihan” highlights the spirit of communal unity, work
and cooperation like working together to finish a specific task, which brought me to
internalize this aspect to my community. Aside from that, Filipinos values the culture and
traditions. All kinds of festivals are known here in the Philippines, the foods and many
more and in return I am astounded.
However, there are also aspect of Filipino culture that I usually do without even
considering the fact that it has a negative influence. One example is what we called the
“Filipino Time”. I’m always guilty of this because instead of arriving at exactly 9:00 am I
arrive at 10:30 am. See the difference? That’s why it took me a lot of contemplation to
prevent this from happening again.
To put it together there are negative and positive impacts of culture to ourselves
but behind those is the essence of true diversity.
