Oliver Collins
We all saw that coming. At the start of the battle he is a normal sized foe
but has strong swings and very difficult to stagger. Plan your attacks
carefully. He is a bit slow and doesn't have long ranged attacks so use that
to your advantage.
A great tactic is to let him swing at you and then lay into him after he stops,
you can also use your ally as a distraction as you attack the foe. You can
use the Mage Blood code to use long range gifts on him as well but it isn't
recommended for the second half.
After he loses 50% HP he will become a large fat monster with even
greater swings and attack damage. Avoid his swings and try and and attack
him at a range or allow your ally to draw his fire while you attack its back.
Winning will give you the boss' weapon and after a scene will play. The
pick up the vestige you were told not to touch.
Walk through the area (or press options to skip). After the scenes you will
gain the Berserker Blood Code.
Home base and Ruined city Center
(Act 1, Chapter 2)
Home base
When all is said and done you will be able to explore your new home base
of operation. Speak to Louis then Io and the other people in the base. Then
speak to Louis again twice and you will be able to use the shops in the
base. You now have access to Louis's blood code: Prometheus. Also be
sure to go to the basement to get any DLC, you also get the God eater set
of weapons from the Murasame's shop for 10 haze each (also dlc). Be sure
to sell any loss shards for haze.
Once your ready to speak to Louis and you'll be ready to head out use the
Mistle to teleport to the Ruined City Underground, Outer crossroads (More
info on the home base in the appropriate section of the guide).
Ruined city Underground
Once here speak to the NPC in the corner, this guy is Shang he will give
you a depth map which is basically what allows you to access a bonus
dungeon called the depths to acquire rare materials and such. You can do
so by taking the map to Davis in the base. Also you can buy or rather trade
with Shang and get Valuables for the Old world materials you have
collected.
Old world materials are gear shaped items and can be used to buy
Valuables from Shang, you can then give these valuables to you allies in
the base, so they gain trading points, you can use these points to gain
valuable items from them (such as a duplicate of their weapon and so on.
More details in the Base section. From here you can return to the base and
do the Depths map (recommended as bringing him an item called peculiar
materials from the map he gave you will increase his variety of valuables,
depths are also good for gaining haze which you can use to grow stronger)
or go past him down the north bound path. You will end up going down
some stairs and following the corridors underground, however there are no
enemies down here. As you walk you will find a fork with one side leading
to corpse and a dead end. There is another depths map here.
Follow the path all the way to a mistle watch the scene and advance now
you'll be in the Ruined City Center.
Before doing this map i recommend doing at least the Den of the Dead
map (preferably the den of darkness as well) and acquire the Vestige in it.
Vestiges are small red glowing crystal like the one you saw after the Oliver
Collins boss, you will often find them throughout the game in various maps
glowing red. A sure sign one is nearby is the sound of a character
whispering something namely someone who isnt present.
Taking Vestiges to Io will cause you to see the memories of the owner as
well as gain their blood code and gifts it contains. Viewing the one inside
the Den of the dead (Hermes I) will cause you to see Davis's memories.
Seeing Vestiges can unlock new blood arts after viewing enough or unlock
new gifts for unlocked ones. More than that much of the story and lore of
the characters is within these vestiges so its always best to collect and see
them whenever you can. However note the endings are connected to
certain vestiges.
Ruined City Center
Go up the stairs and collect the items nearby (use the map below for
reference) and then go up the hill north of you and collect the item on it
then proceed north until you reach a ledge, jump down and collect a
Vestige (Louis's). Then follow the path west picking up items and defeating
enemies (be warned enemies here are armored better and faster. Pick up
the fancy cologne in the car in the corner once you reach that point again
be careful of corners and tight spaces against the enemies here being out
numbered is seriously annoying.
Keep moving till you reach a large parking garage area. As soon as you
enter you should see some crates in front of you and here Coco's voice,
break the crates to get a Vestige. Now advance through the parking lot
beware of enemies behind cars as they can take you by surprise and out
number you. Once you get to the end of the hall there is a large fat enemy
similar but smaller than Oliver Collins after his transformation.
Defeat it with quick attacks and advance. Go to the lower floor where there
will be a scene after which you can activate the mistle and map out the
previous areas. I recommend returning to base for a bit. Speak to Coco and
she will give you her Blood code, Mercury. Then view the Hunter III vestige,
to gain a new gift as well for the Mercury code. Once your done sorting and
preparing return to the Ruined city center.
Before continuing where you left off return to the entrance where you first
entered the area where the first mistle of this area was, there will be an
NPC named Mathew who has a small side quest. After talking to him go
and defeat the enemy that appeared on the map. Now return to the mistle
in the garage.
Now go down the ladder. advance down the path be wary of enemies
including the dog like ones. You will then reach a small open area, there
are three enemies pretending to be dead here, do not ignore them or they
will ambush you ahead. walk close to each one till they get up then kill
them. Break the crates to get the item hidden there and advance.
Head straight west then turn north ignoring the group of walking enemies.
Here you find a chest will be put in an ambush against several enemies
called a trial of blood (invasion) once all foes are beaten you can move on,
but not before picking up the vestige under the truck. This Vestige will allow
you to unlock the Hunter Blood code.
You can wait there for the large group of enemies to come to kill them or
you can keep moving its up to you when you deal with them. Now head
south and then west once at a crossroads, there is a regen upgrade here
past the enemy. Then from the crossroads head south until you get to a
place with a truck, there are more playing dead enemies here defeat them
and move on further west (DO NOT GO EAST YET).
As you go west you will see a pair of red tanks, break them to find another
Vestige. Then go north towards the fat lost and dogs. Now keep going
north collecting items and beating enemies till you reach a cliff, keep
heading east along it but beware the Scorpion like enemies that pop up
from below it. Once past the cliff you will see an eastern path back into the
city take this path, killing enemies and taking items you find.
You will eventually return to the parking garage in fact you will be a floor
below where the mistle is. For now go further in killing the enemies that are
there and move to where there are stairs, there are enemies behind a
fence and there is a vestige with them, you can't reach that one yet, but
there is a vestige near you behind some crates near the stairs, simply
destroy the crates to get them. Now go up the stairs up to as high as you
can and there will be a mistle to purify, and a chest behind some crates.
Now go down 1 floor and open the door and you will be back at the first
mistle.
I suggest returning to base for a brief reprieve for the time being. You can
use this time to view the new Vestiges and improve your build and gear,
Murasame even has new gear in her shop.
Now once you return to the garage mistle go back down stairs and head
back to the cliff you passed earlier and go east to get the enemies and
vestiges you saw from behind the fence, beware of the cliff as enemies
may try and knock you over it. Now collect the Vestige and back track to
the bottom floor of garage. Go east of the stairs which you can use to go up
and you will see a bridge like area with enemies across it. Before anything
else go east of the bridge and break the crates and tanks to collect the
weapon in the chest behind them.
Now comes the hard part, this bridge is one the MOST likely places you
can die continuously and lose haze over. On the other side of the bridge is
one fat enemy and several snipers, they will be firing at you while you try to
get across and once you are across. It's very easy to die here partner or
no.
The best tactic is to use a long range gift to bait the large enemy across
defeat them on their own with a partner, then cross the bridge and then
defeat the snipers up close. Also as im sure you noticed from the other
wide there is a very narrow ledge on the other side with a vestige at the
end, slowly cross it to get the vestige and get back without falling off. If you
fall you will need to do the whole thing over and if you fail then you will lose
a lot of Haze.
Once thats done make your way around the cliffs of this area defeat
another large enemy and then defeat the enemies at the back there also
including another big one. Open the chest, collect the items and move on
going south now. Go up the stairs and defeat the enemy at the top and get
the item before moving one floor down and taking the path to a park like
area, there aren't any enemies nearby head north and then east to find a
mistle (which you can rest at).
This area will now be mapped. You will soon have a boss battle so its
about time to head back to base to prepare.
Now return to the park area and go north, you will see a ladder nearby, go
down it, pick up the Vestige down there and head back up and head north
fighting through enemies and finally when you reach a fork go right first
beat the large enemy and collect the Vestige. Before going towards the
large Cocoon and fighting the boss of this area.
Butterfly of Delirium
Unlike previous enemies who had low mobility and high damage this
enemy unfortunately is the opposite. Unlike them this boss has high
mobility and low damage but inflicts venom on you with most of it's attacks.
For this battle i highly recommend using at least 2 Fire gifts as this boss is
particularly vulnerable to fire. In addition having Yakumo as a partner will
make this battle much less of a burder compared to using Louis, i
recommend using weapons and gear that allow for quick mobility for this
fight. You may also want to buy Anti-venom's from Coco for use in this
battle.
The enemy has a variety of attacks making it a major threat most of them
involve charging at either you or your partner. Other's involve summoning a
cloud of purple smoke around it for a poison AOE, or launching 5 poison
projectiles outwards or otherwise having one large projectile follow you.
A tactic when dealing with her charges is to dodge into her (forward) and
then avoid any further attacks and long range attacks, you want to deal as
much close range damage as possible and then blast her with your fire gifts
when you have them at the ready. Having at least 5 Regens is
recommended in case you run out of anti venoms.
The best tactic though is to either distract the enemy and let your ally do
damage or the reverse. If you cant beat her the first or second time do not
stress out as she is very once you are able to get the hang of her patterns
and once you do it's only a matter of preparing for and countering those
movements, and hey you have infinite lives and tries as long as you are
carrying a huge amount of Haze you can afford to die until you have her
figured out.
If you are still having trouble go to the Code vein wiki:

Maybe it can help you.
Disclaimer: I have no relation or any role in any of the information on the
above length, I have taken the info in account when writing the above
information though and included what is relevant, but not copied it.
After the battle go inside the cocoon for a scene and then go down the
elevator, move through the path until you reach the end into an other area,
and another scene plays followed by a Vestige scene (unlocks a new gift
for Prometheus). After the scenes activate the mistle and return to base we
aren't done with the last area just yet.
First we go back to the base, Coco has more stuff in the shop and Louis
has some stuff he wants to say (speak to him twice). Then speak to Davis
and he will give you his Blood code. Now view the 2 remaining Prometheus
Vestiges. This makes all of Prometheus's gifts available to buy with haze.
Now head on back to Ruined City Underground, Outer crossroads, and
speak to an injured Shang, for a side quest. This is pretty simple the the
second you finish talking an invasion will occur and enemies will continue
to spawn and attack. Simply fight your way through them but be wary of the
big ones. Speak to Shang after and he will give Rv 117, an item which
grants a gift on use.
Now teleport back to the ruined city center's garage mistle, the Seld
important Revenant from earlier will be there and he has a side quest for
you. Speak to him and teleport to the park area, defeat the enemy marked
on the map and then report back,
Remember that area in the south i told you not to go well its time to go
there now, from the garage, go down the ladder, reach the crossroads
(near that chest with the invasion) and then go south to where there is a
truck in the center and then turn east, there should be a wide space with a
large gaping hole in the center. Go down the ladder on the other side to
activate the mistle.
The elevator here is not working so you will need to jump ledge to ledge to
get down there. There are a few items here on the ledges but none are
worth the extra risk of falling to your death and losing a ton of haze, so be
careful. You can use your dodge (quick) as a type of dash if you cant land
on the ledge just by dropping down. Make it to the bottom and then go into
the elevator to bring on up. You can now use the levers to call the elevator
regardless of floor. Now head further into the cavern into the next area.
Howling pits
Once here and after the scenes pull the level to start the torch. These area
onwards is shrouded in thick fog making moving around and exploring
difficult and getting lost very easy, the torch acts like a beacon to guide you
back. I recommend making use of chemical lights in this area as they can
act as visual bread crumbs as well as gifts which have similar effects. That
being said for this place especially i recommend using the map below. As
due to the nature of the location and lack of actual visible land marks i
cannot give proper guidance, instead you may use the items listed on the
map as guide marks and leave a marker there in game after picking up the
items to help you traverse the area.
There are a number of troublesome enemies in this region, namely large
bipedal Mantis' some which carry weapons they have lightning attacks and
physical attacks but are large and easy to stagger with quick attacks. There
are large fat enemies and slimes, also Rolling ball like enemies with spikes
like porcupine. Bringing an ally in this low visibility area is highly
recommended.
As for where to go first, using the below map as reference go west first, you
should make sure to collect the items 17, 2 and 1 and then go north of 1 to
activate the mistle (17 and 1 are vestiges) to map out the area and make
things easier. Also use the lever near 17 to open another torch. Use these
to further help you navigate. Now return to the first mistle and first torch.
Now head north east, towards 11, use the lever to open the torch as
another marker. Then head further north but towards 3 (Do not go near 15
yet), after 3 go towards 12, south of 12 is a mistle, which will map out the
area. Activate the mistle and collect 12 then go towards 16, then follow the
path opposite of 16 to 15,13, a Resting mistle and a blood spring. There will
be a scene after which you can collect the vestiges.
After the scenes with the siblings head north towards 4, pull the lever on
the way to drain the water and make moving here easier. At the end of this
path in the corner is a large enemy lying on the ground, defeat it and it will
drop a rusted sluice key (4). Now advance forward and pull the next lever
(which will use the key) to drain the water.
Now advance towards 5,grabbing the other 3 items while you are at it.
BEWARE, 5 (Eagle key) is being guarded by a powerful water variant of
the Mantis Lost, it has a number of unique water projectile attacks among
other attacks, it also has a high defense so consider it a sub boss. Using
Electric attacks seems effective.
Once you have the Eagle key and have collected all 4 items in this area
head back near the lever and go west, this path leads to a door you can
open with the Eagle key. Now in this next area head for 6 and then 14. 6 is
a key dropped from the large fat enemy on a ledge and 14 is vestige.
Then go south towards 7 (a chest with a good blood veil in it). and then exit
this area to reach a lever which will use the last key you got to lower the
water. Now move north to collect the item (Queen Steel is good for
upgrading past +3) and then 10 (Vestige), after you have them follow the
path further north to open a chest (8) and then head west to use a lever to
activate a torch. In the area where you go looking for 10 to the chest (8),
the Mantis enemies will jump out from under the ledges around you so stay
sharp lest you be taken by surprise, be careful not to be thrown over the
ledges yourself.
From the lever go towards 9 but before that activate the near by mistle and
rest (FINALLY). You can proceed on the path from the lever which will lead
to the boss. Before proceeding with the boss though i highly suggest going
back to base to prepare.
Base
Once back at the base speak to Yakumo and he will give you his Blood
code, Atlus. Now view the Vestiges for Assassin and Atlus that you
collected. And once your done prepare for the coming boss fight.
Invading Executioner
This boss is relatively easier than the butterfly but still pretty tough. The
boss uses its pole/spear as a weapon and when up close and it has a lot of
reach and very difficult to dodge unless you are quick(mobility). At long
range it can blast you with water magic which rises from the ground but
easy to dodge.
However the enemy has a very early second phase at the start of which will
heal itself a bit and then sit on the spear and try to ram you which does a
huge amount of damage. You need to dodge towards the incoming enemy
to avoid it, and then dodge again in case it does it again.
It also gets on the pole and spins which then causes an onslaught of water
orbs flung around at you from long range while it spins. Also many of the
enemy's attacks inflict you with Slow.
There are number of ways to overcome this enemy, in my opinion the best
is long range gifts combined with immense damage close range while
avoiding attacks. Using a quick weapon you can hit close range and dodge
the enemy's attack but you will need to get used to it's patterns. When
wanting to back away and heal you may want switch to using long range
gifts like elemental spikes and roars.
I suggest using attack buffs and either Venom or Stun effects on weapons
to help make the fight easier, you will need multiple hits for them to take but
either is useful. This enemy takes equal damage from all elements.
Unless your the type who likes a challenge i highly suggest using an Ally
like Yakumo or Louis to end this fight more easily in case you die or or to
distract the enemy when needed.
If you are still having trouble go to the Code vein
wiki: https://codevein.wiki.fextralife.com/Invading+Executioner
Maybe it can help you.
Disclaimer: I have no relation or any role in any of the information on the

After the battle is over you will see a vestige scene, then after another
scene you will be back at the base. Speak to Louis and Yakumo.
Time for some Side quests. First teleport to the parking garage in Ruined
City Center. Go around back to the stairs, and go down 1 floor and speak
to the Revenant sitting there. (Matthew). After speaking to him an item will
be marked on the map, make your way to it and pick it up and bring it back
to Matthew (It's behind the fence you can see from the bottom of the
garage). Next make your way to the huge hole which lead to Howling pits,
speak to the Revenant there (Daryl) and then go to the first mistle in
Howling pits and pick up the item there before returning to Daryl. Speak to
Daryl one last time before moving on.
Now its time to continue the main story, teleport to Dried up trenches.
Dried up trenches (Act 1, Chapter 4)
Dried up Trenches
Follow the path its fairly linear and be sure to collect the items that pop up.
Careful as enemies here like to take you by surprise by hiding under the
ledges. There is one such enemy near the second item on your path.
Remember to use the map below (from the wiki (fextralife)) for reference if
you get confused.
Unfortunately the map is missing some items (nothing major) and 1 chest.
And this area has caverns in a maze like format which makes it difficult to
show on the map, in addition some areas can only be reached by walking
off a ledge to land on a ledge below. This is done several times. I HIGHLY
recommend using a youtube video alongside my guidance to make things
easier, you can likely google it by typing Code vein Dried up trenches. I
won't post a video here though.
Enemies in this location, have a variety of types ranging from the normal
Lost you are used to, Lost wielding a shotgun like bayonet (these have
green eyes on their mask, large purple and red enemies with skull faces
usually wielding weapons, not nearly as dangerous as the big enemies
from the first dungeon (who are present in some areas).
Now starting from the first mistle, follow the path, picking up items and
killing enemies until you reach an area with a bunch of metal junk and
boxes (which you can break), rather than advancing forward, walk to the
ledge to your left and look down, you will a spine like bridge below, jump
down, be careful as an enemy will attack you immediately, after killing it
walk into the cave the enemy came from and activate the mistle to make
the area around here visible on the map. Now walk across the bridge to a
ladder, climb it to reach an area with 3 big enemies. Beat them and jump
out of the opening to the south (after you collect item 8 a Vestige). You are
now back where you jumped down on to the bridge.
Now advance back on the path as before until you reach a fork, one going
straight and one going into a cave. Walking into the cave straight until you
see a wooden plank on the floor near a ledge, jump down, continue down
this path, behind the wall is a large axe wielding enemy and a chest (the
one that isnt listed in the key on the map). Now go up the ladder, defeat the
shield holding enemy, to the left is the place you got the vestige and ahead
of you is a ledge (to the right) with a ladder, go down the ladder and go
straight to defeat an enemy and pick up an item.
Now go back to the fork with the cave, now follow the path instead, towards
the enemy ahead, follow the path further but be careful as there are big
enemies who can knock you off the ledge. Keep going straight till you reach
a cave with an enemy inside and a lot of boxes. Defeat the big enemy and
break the boxes. There is a ledge below behind the boxes, jump down.
Follow the path and eliminate the 3 enemies you run into, and at the end
purify the mistle. This maps out this area. Now jump down from where the
mistle is and turn right, then turn right again immediately moving to a small
ledge in the corner. Jump down and advance to collect a chest (5). Now
follow the path and jump back down, follow the path back to where you
jumped down for the chest, this time attack the enemy ahead of you.
Behind the enemy was a ladder, go down it. Now go forward for a chest (4),
but be careful of the powerful Armored Lost (dressed like Davis), they have
powerful attacks and armors and even some magic be very careful when
fighting this enemy. After go to the ledge the enemy came from there are
some white roots with regen upgrade (3).
Now go back up the ladder and back track ALL THE WAY to the first fork
where you entered the cave after purifying the 2nd mistle (the one which
had to jump down on to the bridge for). Now simply follow the other path
you didn't take before it's very linear, but be careful of the enemies trying to
knock you over and popping up from behind gaps and blind spots, there is
also a stationary enemy which breathes fire at you at some point.
Eventually you will arrive at an open space with many big enemies and an
enemy with a rifle. You will need to beat all of them including the one above
the house like structure. Once done move behind the house like structure
DO NOT CROSS THE BRIDGE NORTH OF YOU.
You will see a lone Lost behind the house, kill it and look down where it
was standing, you will see another spine like bridge, jump down and follow
it under the house, be careful as there is a very human looking lost that can
use Claw drain attacks down there, kill it and move forward, you will reach
a Resting Mistle, activate it to map the area.
Go up the ladder near the mistle. you will now be on the roof of the house,
you will see an armored Revenant corpse, with an item nearby, this is a
depths map (7). Now go back outside on to the spine bridge and take the
other path into a cave with 2 large enemies and chest (6).
Now might be the best time to take a break and head to base and restock
preferably also do the Depths map. After the Depths map see Davis's new
vestige (which you can get from the new Depths map).
Now after returning exit the house from the roof (though you will need to
beat the enemies again). now cross the north bound bridge. Follow the
path until you reach an area with enemies and some stationary enemies
breathing fire, from there proceed a bit north till you encounter a large
enemy with an axe. After beating them you will see some boxes. Break
them to find a vestige and then jump down, on a spine like bridge. Follow
the bridge to a ladder and then climb up it defeat the enemy there and
collect the item, then go into the cave to the south and beat three enemies,
there should be a ledge to the west, which you can jump down to, beat the
two enemies and purify the mistle for this area.
Now go back to where you found the vestige and follow the cave north until
you reach a resting mistle. This is just before the Boss battle.
Insatiable Despot
This boss for the most part is pretty easy to defeat. It has only a handful of
long range attacks regardless of the phase but its close range attacks are
very dangerous. You can make this fight a cake walk with a partner to
distract it with. Long range gifts like roars and spikes are best here for
damage, the enemy takes a lot of damage from blood attacks, and is
affected by every affliction so enchanting with venom or stun will be useful.
The enemy may summon a clone of itself which has a small bit of health,
killing this will immobilize the original into a crystal you can attack for a bit.
Be wary of the enemy's own long range attacks and be sure to try and
learn its movement patterns.
Honestly this is the best advice I have this fight is lacking in any major
difficulty or gimmick it just comes down to knowing your enemy's moves
during the the starting phase (above 50% HP) and the 2nd phase. The
second phase is more annoying but it is still doable with a slightly more
offensive moveset.
Again using a partner can trivialize this fight.
After the battle move forward to the spring and watch the scene after the
scene see go to the end of the area and pick up the vestige.
Now time for some side quests before going back to base. Teleport to
Howling pit , Hills of Deception. Speak to the Revenant near the
mistle.(Richard). His sleeping bag appeared on the map so go get it and
bring it back to him. Next go back to the Dried up trenches entrance, speak
to the Revenant there (Gustav). Answer him any way you want then
teleport to the Ruined city center parking garage mistle, go up one floor and
then find the item marked on the map then deliver it to Gustav.
Then return to Base.
Ending Guide
How endings are decided
This game has 3 endings with the final one having 2 variants for a total of
four endings.
How you get the endings is determined by how you went about collecting
and restoring the vestiges. This section is here because as of the next
dungeon in the game (Cathedral of the Sacred Blood). The Vestiges will
help to determine the endings.
There are 4 dungeons in which the vestiges you can collect from there
determine the endings. These are:
Queen's knight
This enemy has a sword and shield as a weapon. You will have Jack as an
ally so you can't fight this enemy Solo. That being said this enemy's
patterns are very simple and easy enough to deal with. Staying at mid
range and attacking with long range spells ans with your weapon is ideal,
try and get a feel for his sword and shield attacks.
Once he hits the half of his health he will heal a bit and buff himself and his
defense. Continue to lay into him as much as you can dodging and striking
when you find an opening. However once he reach 20% of his health he
will start teleporting and attacking from above and worst yet he will start
doing so repeatedly so you need to time your dodges consecutively till the
enemy stops and then attack. Also the last teleport attack ends with an
AOE so stand clear.
For the most part you can use all elements except blood. This enemy is
really simple once you realize the enemy's patterns.
After you win this battle and watch the scenes you will be returned to the
cathedral, and will get the Queen slayer blood code.
Cathedral Of Sacred Blood Part 2(Act
2, Chapter 2)
Side quest
Once you have returned from the memory to the cathedral move forward
down the path to a room with a resting mistle to map out the area. If you
want return to base to recover and improve gear and so on. Now teleport to
the Howling pits entrance. Speak to Daryl there. An enemy will pop up on
the map. Go and defeat them and then return to Daryl and report to him to
complete.
Next teleport to the Dried up trenches entrance, give the item you collect
from the Cathedral (Damage report) to Gustav.
Cathedral revisited
Now its time to continue this long and annoying dungeon. Teleport into the
furthest point and go up the ladder. Then go up the other ladder to get a
chest(5). Now go down the 2nd ladder and follow the path on that floor to a
room with stairs going up and a ladder going down. Take the stairs up for
now.
Now follow the path to a room with 2 other paths (one is a dead end) take
the remaining path to a ladder going down and follow the path to a room
from where you can see a corrupted mistle across a gap, there is a smaller
room with 2 ladders one going up the other going down in the to the left of
that point.
For now go up the ladder, then another ladder you will be on a roof with 2
enemies and a chest(6). The chest has a key. Now it's time to back track.
Go back to the fork with the stairs and the ladder going down and go down
the ladder (dont worry about the other ladder in the closer fork we'll get to it
later.).
Go down the ladder and follow the path to a room which triggers an
invasion. Survive and get a Pure blood item from inside the pillar. Now
return to the fork with the 2 ladders. And go ALL the way down. From here
it becomes very linear just follow the path until you reach a door which you
open with a lever, there is a room with stairs in the pillar but the path ahead
has a locked door, then walk inside the pillar of the next room and go down
the stairs, follow the path to another stair case going up.
Now follow the path to a room with another stair case inside the pillar and
go up. Then follow the path to a room with 2 enemies and look down the
hole to see a vestige (11) which you can drop down and get (assuming you
want to for your route).
Now once you get back to the place you jumped from to get the vestige,
follow the path ahead to another room with stairs in the pillar. Go all the
way up and drop down the door way and follow the path to a corrupted
mistle. Purify to map the area. Then follow the path to a resting mistle.
Then as the door here is locked go down the other path. Use the ladder to
go up and lower another ladder on the roof. Now open the door to your left
(it opens with the shoddy key). Once inside the room drop down into the
hole and then drop down in to one of the doors. Now look around till you
see the path where an enemy with a red glow above it is. Go there and
beat it to map the area. Then break the boxes for another vestige (8).
Then take the other path to a corrupted Mistle to purify to map the area
further. Then go down the ladder to a chest with the ornate key. Recall
when you opened a door with lever, there was another door after the room
you entered, return to that door to open it.
Walk through the path to a resting mistle. Do not worry about the unopened
doors and winged doors just rest here and be ready for a boss fight.
Now advance and after a scene with Leda. IF you are pursuing any of the
endings aside from the bad one Restore ALL of the vestiges you had
acquired here. Or do it back at the base its up to you
Then enter the boss room for a scene then a battle. If you enter without
seeing the vestiges you wont be able to view them at all after this. Or rather
even if you did it wouldnt affect anything anymore.
Successor of the Ribcage
This battle is relatively easier than any of the previous ones. Ideally i
recommend a strength build and Yakumo for a partner to really trivialize it.
This boss doesn't move from it's stop and mainly uses long range attacks
to damage you, use the pillars as cover and dodge and sprint towards the
enemy and lay into them from behind. Be wary of the few close range
attacks they possess and if there is lightning under you dodge. When
taking damage the boss will have fire in its hands before teleporting to the
other side. Forcing you to go after it again.
Its health goes down very quickly and once depleted entirely phase 1 ends.
After a scene the fight begins again with it back at full health and with more
long range attacks. In addition when teleporting she now has a shield, so
you really wanna be ready for her teleporting to hurry to the other side and
lay into her from the start.
After the fight a vestige scene will play.
During the vestige you will eventually be face to face with a petrified
successor who you will need to speak to (ONLY IF YOU SAW ALL HER
previous vestiges) otherwise go through the door. If you restored her you
will get the Isis blood code otherwise you will get the Queen's ribcage blood
code.
After that go to the back of the room and enter the door and go down the
stairs. After the scenes go back upstairs for another scene.
After that a resting mistle will appear from which you can retreat back to
base for a bit.
Ridge of Frozen Souls(Act 2, Chapter
3)
Back at Base
Speak to the Human girl she will give you some valuables. Speak to
everyone else, when you speak to Io you will view a vestige automatically.
Speak to Io again to receive her Blood code and you can now bring her as
an ally in battle. Next Go speak to Shang in the Ruined City Underground
Outer crossroads. Pick up Talk and get a new Depths map.
Now go the Howling pits Bottomless Shore and speak to Matthew and beat
the enemy that appears the map. Now go to the Cathedral, Inner Tower.
Open the winged door and go inside.
Ridge of Frozen Souls
Head Straight and activate the Mistle then advance forward. Follow the
path to an enemy and a door (which wont open yet). And then continue on
the path which goes upwards. Eventually you will reach an open space.
After beating the enemies here look down the left ledge before the trucks.
Jump down to get a Vestige(6) (However ignore it if you are aiming for the
Bad ending). Then follow the path to 2 claw drain using enemies and a
ladder, go up the ladder to reach a corrupted mistle and a regen
upgrade(1). Now activate the mistle to map the area and and open the
door.
Head back to where you jumped and advance. After passing the truck walk
near the cliff as the center area will sink and make you fall into it. Then
You'll see a Lost corpse in the corner, go there and there will be an chest
(2). Now follow the path up the mountain until you reach a fork. Take the
path in front of you going up to a Vestige(8)(be wary right before the
vestige on the left the ground will fall out from under you.
Next back track and take the other path. This leads to a group of enemies
and a resting mistle. After this follow the path to the right of the mistle down
hill. Keep going until you reach a fork between a cave and a snowy area,
ignore the cave for now. Go into the snowy part for a corrupted mistle and a
Vestige(7).
Now go back to the Resting mistle and take the path north of it and go up
the hill, till you reach an open area, you will have to beat a very powerful
enemy with a ton of health and self buffing abilities, its very agile and very
strong but vulnerable to fire, careful not to be knocked over the cliff. After
beating it go look in the corner for a chest near a Lost corpse.(3).
Now go up the ladder and up the hill until you see a scene. After the scene,
walk off to the right to activate a resting mistle. Now going forward are 3
paths, Left, Middle and Right. Take the Left first and go all the way till end
to get an item, then go in the Middle path (do not use the ice bridge it will
collapse. Beware the powerful enemy as it is fast and hard to take down
through normal means, gifts aren't very affective.
At the end of this area is a Vestige(9). Next head back to the mistle and go
on the right path (again ignore ice paths as they will break.) Now follow the
right path all the way around the building till you are in another open space,
follow the left most path, towards another buillding. There will be a fork, one
path going into a frozen cave and another going above it. Take the one
going above, it first.
Go north all the way south on this path, to a chest(5). Now go down the
path before the dead end with the chest to an area with a ladder and
resting mistle. Go down the ladder, go down the area behind the ladder and
defeat an armored loss to map the area and open a chest(4).
Now head back to ladder and go left and then purify the corrupted mistle.
The area will be mapped. Now move north, you will see another Io
lookalike, Cylene Speak to her if you gathered all the Vestiges for this area
to view them.
Now you can return to base to do the Depths map or otherwise before you
advance to the boss fight. After completing the Depths map return the item
you got to Shang. Now on to the boss.
Mistles
These are the checkpoints you will find in all dungeon areas throughout the
game, these have multiple important functions and you will find yourself
using them for the entire game.
Firstly when you rest at a Mistle you will regain all your HP and Ichor. In
addition your regens are restocked. Secondly when you find a mistle or a
corrupted mistle, reactivating/purifying them will allow you map the area
around it. Defeating certain enemies will have a similar effect.
Your game also Autosaves when using one. Lastly when ever you die you
will respawn at the last Mistle where you rested.
Note: Dying and reviving at a mistle or resting at one to heal or use its
features will cause all previously killed foes to respawn.
Level ups
This is where and how you spend the haze earned from killing enemies to
increase your level. Level ups only increases HP, Stamina, Ichor and a
small boost to weapons of various types (equipped or not) and the strength
of Light or dark gifts depending on the class equipped these gained stats
for weapons and gifts will change (such as a caster class having more gift
damage but it changes to weapon damage in a different class and so on).
The amount is small and the haze required increases per level. The max
level is 300.
Storage
Goes without saying you can store your excess items here.
Teleport
Again very obvious the Mistle allows you to jump locations. You can move
to any Mistle in a location or go to an entirely different location. You will
often likely use this to fast travel throughout the game and to go to and
from the base.
Combat
Basics
Before we get into any of the complexities of the combat and stats and all
that this section will explain the typical actions and simpler aspects of
battle. (For convenience we will use the playstation controls for reference).
Weapon Attacks
There are several different weapon types in the game. Each weapon has
different variations of the same attack types, however the stamina
consumption, type of damage, speed and damage itself varies greatly
depending on weapon used for the attack. I'll explain this in more detail
below with examples but first lets go over the attack types.
Gameplay Mechanics
Stats, Scaling, Blood codes, Blood veils and weapons
Stats and Scaling
This section explains how basically all the nitty gritty stats and mechanics
work to make damage and such happen in game.
Stat definitions and what they do
Before anything else a glossary on what each stat mentioned in this section
does.
No. Name What it effects in game
1 Strength Along with Dexterity this decides your physical
attack power
Along with Vitality it affects your HP
2 Dexterity Along with Strength this decides your physical
attack power
It affects your drain rating
3 Mind Affects Stamina along with Fortitude
Affects drain speed
Affects light gifts
4 Willpower Affects Elemental resistance (along with
Fortitude to a small extent)
and dark gifts
5 Vitality Along with Vitality it affects your HP
It also gives physical damage reduction which is
unfortunately
not a great amount.
6 Fortitude Along with Mind affects Stamina
Along with Willpower affects to a very small
degree elemental resistance
7 Stamina reduction The amount of stamina reduced when blocking
with weapon
8 Drain rating Amount of Ichor obtained when attacking or
guarding
9 Weight and total All weapons and blood veils have weight and
weight the amount of total weight
equipped determines your mobility (slow,
normal, quick)
10 Balance Resistance to staggering the higher this state
the harder it is to stagger you
11 Mobility Changes speed of movement and dodging
(slow, normal and quick)
depending on weight
12 Gifts (Light/Dark) Determines damage of gifts
Where do your stats come from and what does leveling up do?
For starters Stats in code vein do not have numeric value and by this i
mean that most numeric values are decided by the non numeric values or
are unrelated to your base stats to begin with.
Your characters stats come from their Blood code which is essentially their
class for reference we'll use the info of a level 18 character using the
Fighter blood code (see image below).
Now as you can see there are Letter values for each of the 6 main stats
these through some form of calculations get translated into the Blood
code's Max HP, Stamina, Physical attack damage, Gift damage and so on.
Blood codes also come with Base values for various stats separate from
those calculated from the letters. These Include Base Balance, Max ichor
(Max after multiple drains), Base mobility, resistances and various defense
stats.
Blood codes basically decide all your character's base stats, as such Blood
code earned later in the game will be vastly superior stat wise to old ones,
all builds begin with your blood code as it is where the base capabilities of
your character lies.
By now you must be asking where does leveling up come into play if stats
are decided by the blood code, when you spend haze to level up at mistles
you only gain stat boosts to your HP, Stamina, physical damage of specific
weapon types and gifts. What this means is that no matter what boosts you
get from leveling up changing to different blood code will reallocate those
boosts to the appropriate stats for that given class. An example lets say i
level up at a mistle as a fighter and gain 1 more point to my physical
damage with a weapon as a fighter, changing my blood code to mage will
move that point to Gift damage instead or some other relevant stat.
Blood veils are much the same way as weapons, their weight are used to
determine mobility when added to weapon weight. and all the same stats
(scaling, base damage, drain rating, resistances all work the exact same
way as a weapon's except in what they affect
Physical damage only affects drain attacks and or attacks using the blood
veil, the defense stats all apply to damage you take when not guarding.
GIfts info apply to gifts obviously. I should note however the scaling applies
to both gifts and drain attacks with strength and dexterity affecting the drain
attack and Mind and will power affecting gifts.
below is an image that shows this
Gift scaling and using gifts
As you play through the game and gain new gifts including passive ones,
you will gain the ability to greatly increase your stats by using them and this
is shown when you check your stats from the menu. An example is the use
of passive gifts from many classes to increase, Strength, Mind, Dexterity,
Willpower, Vitality and Fortitude, among other gifts which increase specific
damage of weapons such as one handed sword mastery which increases
damage of one handed swords greatly.
Now what is important about these passive buff gifts and how they can
improve stat scaling, is that they allow you to use weapons, gifts and blood
veils you other wise could not use with a certain class.
For example say a weapon requires Strength B but your blood code only
has C+, you can use a Strength boost passive gift to upgrade Strength to
B, thus allowing you to use the weapon. The same applies to Blood veils
and gifts with requirements.
There are also gifts which affect total health , damage, weight limit and so
on. Do not underestimate gifts and their usefulness, the most effective
players will want to gather and inherit as many as they can and combine
them effectively to make up for any shortcomings of their class or improving
its strengths. I highly recommending not underestimating buffs and debuffs
in this game, they can mean life or death.
Home base
Home base basics
The home base has a number of useful facilities like the item shop, weapon
and gear shop, a mistle and so on. This section will go over each one in
detail.
Talking to companions and Valuables
While at the base you will be able to talk to all currently available
companions and service providing allies.
For companions by talking to them you can have them join you in battle
while in dungeons and can perform communal gifts with them (these are
special gifts which activate specific powerful buffs when with a companion).
Note you can now also pick companions from any Mistle. You can also talk
to them often during specific moments in between dungeons for story
details and such.
Equipment shop
Here you can buy new weapons and blood veils. However this will not be
your main source of gear and most equipment can be found in the various
dungeons in the game either as drops from enemies or in chests. Weapons
primarily come from enemies and chests and in turn some of these are
added to the shop but not all. See the weapon list for details on how to get
each weapon.
Blood veils on the other hand though some can be bought from the shop at
first most of them will only unlock when you find them in chests (blood veils
only get found in chests). You can also buy altered colors of those blood
veils from here. See the blood veil list for details about locations.
Also all DLC can be gotten from here at 10 haze.
Upgrading Equipment
Here you use materials and haze to upgrade a weapon or blood veil. For
weapons doing so will increase their Base and Scaling damage (thus
increasing total physical damage, and for blood veils will increase the Base
and Scaling damage for Drain attacks, Light and Dark Gifts defenses are
not affected. An upgraded equipment gets +(number of times upgraded).
The materials needed will increase in rarity as they go higher up (with +10
being the highest atm). You will need Queen Iron from 0 to +3, Queen
Steel for +4 to +6, Queen Titanium for +7 to +9 and Queen Tungsten for
+10.
These can easily be found dropping from most enemies in various
dungeons with rarer ones being from later dungeons.
Transforming equipment
This is a method by which you alter the weapon or blood veil's natural
properties to better suit a situation. This requires 10000 Haze and very
special materials called Chromes. These can only be obtained by trading
with specific characters or as a drop from enemies in certain successor's
dungeons. You can tell the effect from the transformation menu and there
is a name added to the name to note the effect.

Io and Vestiges
By speaking to Io you can restore the vestiges you have found in various
dungeons, and view the memories they contain. Doing so is vital to getting
new gifts for blood codes and towards obtaining specific blood codes and
endings of the game.
Misc. Facilities
Hotsprings
Yes there is a mixed hotsprings in your base, you can bathe in it to recover
half of lost Haze, and view older in game events and read up on lore info
normally shown in the loading screen.
Mirror/Appearance changing
By using the mirror behind Coco you can change your character's
appearance in every way except, gender and voice (for those you will need
to start a new game not even ng+ will let you do that).
Basement
Where DLC is kept.
Ng+ exit
Available only after beating the final boss, allows you to begin ng+.
Depths
What are Depths
These are bonus or special dungeons where you can gain special rewards
and rare materials.
Note: ALL maps used come from the Code vein wikia by fextralife i do not
own or have anything to do with them i am just sharing them in this guide
and using them as reference for guidance.
Den Of Darkness
Once you arrive activate the nearby mistle to map out the area then follow
the path to west (there are 3 items in the corner near a lost corpse they are
chemical lights which you can use to mark locations temporarily and an
item which grants a gift on use regardless of blood code permanently).
Follow the path killing the enemies you encounter, there will be a fork, one
going north east and another going north west. Take the north east one first
to a dead end with two enemies (one is a big one). Pick up the items here
including a key. You'll need this key to fight the depths boss.
Once you have picked up the items here then advance down the other path
defeating enemies, there is a chest and item to pick up on the way.
As the path moves north you will arrive at a corrupted mistle, activate it to
map out the area including the large room in front of you. In the big room
there is a sub boss and two normal enemies. Defeat those before going
after the boss. This boss is the same as shield using enemies and is pretty
easy to beat.
After that pick up any items there and head back to the first mistle then
head north. You will once again find a fork the west path leads to a small
room with an item, WARNING, you will be ambushed here (called invasion)
by several spawning enemies here non stop until you kill all of them. There
are several small enemies and several large foes you need to fight. Your
best chance of winning is not to kill them all in the room as they can
surround you and overwhelm you over time. Instead fight your way past
them and run back to the path near the first mistle, dont enter the room.
Fight the enemies in the narrow tunnel between where the ambush starts
and the mistle.
This way you can defeat the enemies in a single line and wont be attacked
from multiple angles and can back away to avoid attacks, once your able to
kill all of them make your way back and pick up the item and move on.
Note: Having an ally makes this fight absurdly easy.
Now advance down the north east path until you enter a small area with
enemies kill them and then pick up the items including a key on a revenant
corpse, a camera in a car and an item called peculiar materials near a lost.
Once you got these advance down the path north east. You will find a
corrupted mistle, purify it to fully map the area.
Now enter the next room for another mini boss pretty much the same as
last time the mini boss this time is large hooded enemy the same kind you
fought before in the underground city.
Now return to the first mistle room and use the key to enter the boss room.
This boss is a carbon copy of Oliver collins so you can beat him the same
way. Below is a map of the area. You can take the Peculiar materials back
to Shang to complete his side quest.
Den of the dead
Activate the mistle and follow the path west. Once you reach a stair case
defeat the enemies and pick up the key in the area, then continue further
west to a small room, defeat the enemies and then collect the items in the
room. You can get a weapon in chest and gift granting item in this room.
Then continue south to purify the corrupted mistle and do a sub boss battle.
Its just 3 normal enemies, beat them and return to the starting mistle.
Now follow the path south defeating enemies and picking up items ignore
the path going into a dead end with the red glowing item for now and go all
the way south to the corrupted mistle and purify it and fight the sub boss.,
two large enemies, pick up the key at the far end of the boss room.
Afterwards go to the red glowing item for an invasion ambush. You can
handle this in much the same way as last time fight your way through the
enemies until you reach the mistle room, the enemies cant enter it and will
retreat use this chance to pick them off and then run back. Using hit run
tactics the end the ambush quickly. Make sure to pick up glowing red items
from which you can hear whispers (It's a Vestige).
Now it's time to enter the boss room. The boss is another Oliver Collins
clone.
Depths: Town of Sacrifice
As before as soon as you arrive there is a Mistle nearby to activate. The
rest follows the usual patterns, start by going down the western path. Now
once you enter an open space defeat the 2 dog like enemies pick up the
two items (one of which is an item which gives a permanent gift). Then
move further in to fight a large fat enemy with a hammer, kill it and it will
drop the Town of sacrifice key 1. Now go up the stairs and beat the 2
enemies. Continue down the cavern until you reach a corrupted mistle,
purify it.
Then ahead of you is a sub boss battle. The boss is quick and easy its just
one large fat enemy and three dogs. If you kill the boss the others die
instantly but be careful of the dogs inflicting a stun. Now return to the first
mistle.
Now take the southern path, first you will enter a small room with 3 or 4
enemies. Defeat them and advance, when you reach a fork take the
western path and you will reach a chest, after which you can go through a
small cave with the corrupted mistle and activate it. now defeat the sub
boss. It's very easy their just the two gun men.
Now go to the other part of southern area which you hadnt checked yet and
get the items after dealing with the enemies, 1 of the items is a key. Also
there is an invasion spot which is annoying due to acrobat enemies, i
suggest bringing an ally. You can however use the same return to mistle
strategy here if you can make it.
Once done with that return to the first mistle and go down the last path.
Take the first right turn to get the item then return to the fork and go east
defeat the enemies and approach the Vestige beware this will trigger an
Invasion. This one is easier due to fewer enemies.
Now return to the fork and follow the path all the way north to pick up the
last key, then go down the rest of this area collect the items kill enemies
then beat the very easy sub boss.
Now Once ready face the boss. It's a copy of Butterfly of Delirium.
Trial towers
These are 3 new depths maps added in the 1.20 update (you can access
them at any time the maps are on louis's desk) unlike other depths they are
simple and straight forward survival areas, they also make getting marks of
honor outside of multiplayer much easier. The system is simple, you start
you activate the mistle, you activate the blue veins in the corner to open up
the floor, you fight the enemies, you go down to the next and so on.
The first room is always 1 or many enemies which can be overpowered, the
second is an invasion so be prepared, the third is a boss, usually an early
game boss, then the cycle repeats for 3 more floors, the final boss is
usually a late game boss.
The bosses in this area are much stronger that the story versions and to
make things worse you cant return to the mistle or rest at anything until you
beat the 2nd boss. At the bottom of the dungeon is a gift item.
Tower rewards include pure blood, marks of honor and old world materials.
Tower 1
The easiest tower, the first floor will have you fighting 1 Yeti like lost with
the Ice armor and rolling around, with just one its pretty easy to defeat as
long as you arent careless, still annoying though.
The second floor is easier as its an invasion with a lot of normal Yeti lost
followed by a weaker version of the one on the first floor.
The third floor will involved fighting a butterfly of delirium clone boss, this
one is stronger than previous versions but other wise has the exact same
moveset.
The fourth floor onward will have you fight the blue flames lost from the city
of falling flames, again really simple and quick but annoying if you aren't
careful.
The 5th floor is another invasion this time of large fire golem like lost and
ending with a blue flame lost.
The 6th floor will see you fighting a Successor of the claw clone, same
moveset but much stronger and more annoying. Defeat it and head down
to the bottom floor to the mistle and an item which will give you a gift (one
which buffs your partner's stats).
Tower 2
Arguably the most tedious and other hard tower among the three. The first
floor is freaking hassle because you have to fight two of the large
executioner lost from the early game you know the ones with the huge axe
and that like to stomp, you have to fight them while being fired at by two
stationary blood shooting lost in the corners.
This one is annoying as hell so i suggest an ally to make it less of a
headache.
The second floor is an invasion involving the white haired enemies from the
cathedral, and ending with a golden one. The third floor will have you fight
Invading executioner, again same moveset, much stronger and still
annoying.
The fourth floor will have you a Wind mantis but its quick and easy if your
careful about it. Next on the 5th floor is the worst invasion ever, its an
invasion of a constant barrage of Mido Minions you know the annoyingly
fast samurai guys, usually 1 or 2 at a time.
The 6th floor will have you fight Mido himself or a copy of him or whatever
again same skills and move, just stronger and faster.
Then head to the bottom floor and collect the gift item which will give you a
gift for temp fortitude and vitality buff.
Tower 3
Maybe the easiest tower in some ways, the first floor will involve fighting
the Berserk Argent wolf knight enemy version, like all versions he has the
same moveset but less health and still has the weakness of being easily
back attacked and so on.
The second floor you will fight an invasion of cerberus troops and a weaker
Berserk argernt wolf knight at the end.
The 3rd floor boss are 2 attendants of the relics, ie 2 Io clones but stronger
and with buffs and magic she doesnt have.
The 4th floor is just to fat enemies but with a lot of health.
The 5th floor is an invasion of Female knight lost with shields like the one
you fought in memories of the player. The last enemy is a mido minion.
The final trial in the tower is Skull King, he's the same as the story version
but much stronger in terms of health and damage, i fought this version and
the main story version, this one is the same speed but does more damage
and has more health and defense.
The reward item you get is a gift which gives some of your health to other
allies likely including multiplayer allies.
