read and understand the short story below. Then answer the
corresponding questions to begin with your learning journey. Go and
begin!

On Christmas Eve

Christmas at the Lago’s residence had been an occasion of much fun

before Aunt Nova entered the PNP training center. Aunt Nova, a famous
fashion designer, had been generous to the Lago’s children. JD, James,
Thea, and DK had much fun with her before she entered the training center.

Aunt Nova believed in giving the children as much fun as possible on

Christmas. That Christmas eve, after the Lago children had sung carols to
her in her apartment, she brought them to the carnival where they had such
a wonderful time. The sky was the limit! Before they went home she gave
them a treat at a restaurant along Poblacion, Nabunturan.

Aunt Nova bought them fancy hats, paper horns, and firecrackers on
the way but by the time they reached home at past eleven, JD had already
set off all his firecrackers. Mr. and Mrs. Lago weren’t home for they had gone
to church to hear midnight mass.

Aunt Nova and the children found the table all set for the traditional
“Noche Buena”, Mrs. Lago had cooked a number of dishes including the
sweetened humba which was still hot and smelling of burnt brown sugar.
Mrs. Lago, a perfect housewife tied down to her housekeeping, was a superb
cook.
The Christmas tree in the sala was laden with gifts. Mr. And Mrs. Lago
had hung them up before they left. Seeing the gifts, Aunt Nova sneaked out
to get the gifts which she had been hiding in the car all the while. The
children were so happy to receive such wonderful gifts. That was one long

Let Us Reflect

Great job! You have successfully answered all the activities provided.
Imagine you will be given a chance to write or discuss things you wanted to
do using the English language. It will be very hard for you to do so if you’re
not familiar with an action that will be completed before a point of time in
the future. English language can be very confusing and frustrating but, by
just familiarizing them through engaging different exercises and activities
provided both offline and online then, there’s no reason and it is impossible
if we can’t master all of these.
