1. Information provided by manufacturers of school buses suggests the mean
maintenance cost per month is $455 per bus. Use statistical software to find the mean
and the standard deviation for the Buena buses. Does the Buena data seem to be in
line with that reported by the manufacturer? Specifically, what is the probability  of the
sample mean being less than Buena’s, given the manufacturer’s data?
According to information provided by school bus manufacturers, the average monthly
maintenance cost per bus is $455. Using statistical tools to calculate the mean and standard
deviation for the Buena buses, it can be concluded that the Buena data is consistent with
what the manufacturer has claimed. The sample mean has a 21.48 percent chance of being
lower than Buena's as stated in the manufacturer's statistics.
2. Develop a 95 percent confidence interval for the mean bus maintenance. Develop a
95 percent confidence interval for the mean bus miles. Write a business memo to the
state transportation official to report your results.

3. Select the variable for the number of miles travelled last month. Conduct a test of
hypothesis to determine whether the mean number of miles travelled is equal to 840.
Use the 0.01 significance level. Find the p-value and explain what it means.
To conduct Hypothesis testing sample of 36 miles selected from given data. Based on
hypothesis testing we have enough sample to accept H0. Using the 0.01 significance level,
the number of miles travelled in the previous month was estimated to be 840. The
probability of receiving the value of the test statistic.
4. Using the maintenance cost variable, conduct a test of hypothesis to determine
whether the mean maintenance cost is less than $500 at the 0.05 significance level.
Determine the p-value and interpret the result.
To conduct Hypothesis testing sample of 36 maintenance cost selected from given data.
Based on hypothesis testing we have enough sample to not to reject H0. Using the 0.05
significance level, the average maintenance cost can be estimated to be less than $500.
Probability is more than level of significance.
5. Suppose we consider a bus “old” if it is more than eight years old. At the
0.01 significance level, can we conclude that less than 40 percent of the buses are old?
Report the p-value
After conducting hypothesis, we don’t reject null value. At 0.01 significance level, If a bus is
older than 8 year then it is inferred that less than 90% of the buses are new with a p-value
of 0.1814.
6. Is there a difference in the mean maintenance cost for the diesel versus the
gasoline buses? Use the 0.05 significance level.
After conducting hypothesis testing it is inferred that there is no difference in bus
maintenance cost for diesel and gasoline. We do not reject null value.
7. Conduct a test of hypothesis to reveal whether the mean maintenance cost is equal
for each of the bus producers. Use the 0.01 significance level.
At the 0.01 significance level, there is enough data to refute the assertion that each bus
manufacturer's average maintenance cost is the same. The cost of each bus manufacturer is
same.
8. Conduct a test of hypothesis to determine whether the mean miles travelled is equal
for each make of bus. Use the 0.05 significance level.
At the 0.05 significance level, there isn't enough evidence to rule out the assumption that
mean miles travelled are equal for each bus model.
9. Develop a 95 percent confidence interval for the disparity in the average
maintenance cost between buses made by Bluebird and Thompson.
95% confidence interval exists for the difference in average maintenance costs between Gw
bluebird and Thompson buses (16.12 and 38.05)
