QUESTIONS 

Which of the various types of things that we wear can be considered to be "fashion"?  Name them.  What types of clothes
do you feel most comfortable wearing?  What types of shoes or footwear do you like to wear?  Why?  Do you wear high
heels?  Why or why not?  What are the different types of materials that clothing is made of?  What are the varieties of
colors and patterns that can be seen on clothes?  Are there certain colors that suit you better than others, or that you like
better?   Do you look better in pastels or dark colours?  Are there some colours that don't suit you or that you dislike? 
Can men wear pink and purple? What items of clothing do people not wear anymore?

Is it important for you to have nice clothes?  What item of clothing would you most like to buy?  How do you feel when
you dress nicely?  What kinds of accessories do you wear?  Name or describe jewelry, belts, scarves, hair accessories,
shawls, scarves, etc.  What kind of makeup do you wear?

Do you look at fashion in magazines or on TV?  Why or why not?  What do you think of the latest fashions?  Which
countries influence fashion the most?  Do you think that the frequent change of fashion is just a way to get people to buy
more clothes and make clothing manufacturers rich?  Do you try to follow the latest fashions?  How important
is fashion for you?  How has fashion changed in the last several years?   What things change in fashion very quickly? 
Does fashion repeat after a certain number of years?    What are the differences between women's and men's fashions?
What is the most important thing about fashion?  Do you think certain clothes attract the opposite sex?  Do you think
certain clothes "turn off" the opposite sex?  What types of clothes would your parents NOT like you to wear?

What do you think about the negatives of fashion, be it the animals used to produce materials, the exploitation of the
world’s poor & desperate to produce garments, or the relentless push that we consume more even though we don't
actually need to? Or simply the judgments we make of others based on their clothes? What do you think of catwalk
models and the images of fashion that we see; are they realistic? Should there be ‘normal’ models? What is the downside
of ‘Fast Fashion’?

What type of clothes would you never wear?  Can clothes be offensive?  What types of clothes are always appropriate or
in style?  What are your favorite clothing shops?  How often do you go shopping for clothes?  Do you think clothing is
expensive?  Are brand-name clothes better than those without a brand?  Do you buy clothes at second hand stores or in
Chinese shops?  Do you ever make yourself or any of your family make their own clothes?  Why do people wear
uniforms?  Have you ever worn one?  What is a dress code?  Do you think our school should have a uniform?  What kinds
of clothes are inappropriate for school?  Is it okay to wear T-shirts with vulgar English words on them?

Are people judged according to the clothes/brands they wear?  Is it fair or right?  Do you agree or disagree with the
statement that "Clothes make the man"?  Why?  What is a "fashion statement"?  Do our clothes influence our success in
life?  What can certain clothes "say" about a person?  What do your clothes say about you?   What kind of "image" do
you want to give to people through fashion?  What are retro or vintage styles of clothing?

What clothes are appropriate to wear for:  School?  Sports?  A Job Interview?  Walking the dog?  Grocery shopping? 
Going dancing at a disco?  Going to a formal dance?  Visiting your grandmother?  Relaxing in the summer?  Walking in
the rain?  Walking outside in the winter when the temperature is -10 degrees? 
When getting dressed for the day or for a special occasion, does it take you a long time to decide what to wear?  Why is
that? What do the following groups of people wear?  B boys (hip hop), Grunge, Ravers, Goths, Skater, and Punks

What do you think of religious diktats or edicts on fashion, what is your opinion on head scarves, Niqab or Burka? What if
you had to wear these? Why do you think some societies dress women this way?
