Temple of Iudexis

Outside Description
A large rectangular structure rises up from the tree cover with several staircases and platforms
leading up to it. Beautifully crafted marble columns decorate its perimeter. Were it not for the
blood spattered marble and mangled corpses scattered about the area it would seem a serene
venue.

● 2 Apprentice Mage & 4 Dretch (800 xp) - running down one of the other researchers or
feeding on bodies they seem almost feral and their eyes look like black pools.
○ Upon examination they see the madmen and the guy they chased own all seem
to be wearing the same robes
○ Dretches poison (DC10 con save or 1d4 poison dmg then 1 minute/10 rounds).
● Several of the trees are on fire, they could be pushed in for damage.

A small building with a garden and a large number of cooking and serving items and 2
slaughtered people can be found. Seems like they cooked for those who lived here. They had
very spare possessions and no money can be found, it looked like servants quarters.

Entranceway

A beautifully sculpted room with an ornate golden door on witch is engraved large scales of
justice. Another mauled priest is slumped in the corner with a blood trail leading up to the spot
where his head was obviously smashed into the wall. Over one scale appears the word justice
and over the other the word wisdom .An inscription over the rounded door frame reads “Justice
and Wisdom cannot be had without this. Those who seek it proclaim it and enter. (Truth or
Knowledge)

Library Main Area

The golden doors opens out onto a cavernous room with row upon row of large bookshelves
that seem to run the length of the building. A second floor overhang runs along the sides of the
building converging about a third of the way down a fountain running red can be seen in a small
clearing just below it. Many of the bookshelves have been toppled over and some are burning
with books and burnt pages littering the place. Overturned tables , smashed statues, and even a
few toppled columns are strewn about. The defiled bodies of more initiates can be seen all
around.

● 2 Dretch & 1 Apprentice Mage (500 xp) - in various areas on the first floor.
● A flaming bookcase is toppled towards them as they venture in.

Stairway Area
As they clear the last bookshelves 2 stairways leading up to the second floor one is completely
smashed where it looks like a column was toppled down onto it towards the top. The second
looks like the same thing was attempted and while it looks worse for wear it is still standing, the
crumpled column lies at the base of these stairs.

● DC 15 dex check for each as they climb up it, on a fail they put too much weight and
someone falls through taking fall damage. (1D10)

2nd Floor Portal

Several bookshelves flank a wide open space. An ornately carved 10 foot circle with a complex
series of sigils running along the outside are set into the stone wall opposite you. There are a
few steps leading up to it. There is an empty square cut into to top of the top of the circle.

● 1 Minotaur (700 xp) - As they get to the top a wave of energy knocks them on their
behind toppling the bookshelves. They see a man in robes cackling insanely that “You’re
too late she’s done for”. His body looks to be splitting apart and growing larger. Two
large tusks grow from his head.
○ A large square jewel on a chain which fits into the cut out, once they place it
there is a blinding flash of light and portal shimmers before them.

Portal Room
A large open circular area surrounded by columns sits in the middle of a moonlit field with soft
hills in the distance and what sounds like flowing rivers nearby. A young woman in ornate robes
bearing a resemblance to those you’ve seen the others wearing lies past a large fire pit several
feet from you. Blood is pooling at her sides and sputtering from her mouth as she struggles for
life. A hulking creature with cloven feet in black armor tosses a bowl in your direction blood
spattering from it as it hits the ground in front of you. Blood streaming from the tusks set in his
jaw he begins to speak his throat and eyes seemingly glowing with heat as does the jagged
sword he carries.
● “Dra’ven… the wayward orc, you may have defied my father but I know he still calls to
you. Submit to him and you may yet live.”
● Wisdom save (DC15) or become incapacitated for the first turn of combat

● Cambion (1,800) - No flying but has a running speed of 50 feet. Roar - DC14 Wisdom
check or frightened for 2 rounds, only once per combat.

● The oracle can read the scroll for them
