Intern’s Statement of Understanding

Dear Intern,
Below you can find your responsibilities & obligations towards AIESEC in Hungary, as well as AIESEC
in Hungary’s responsibilities & obligations towards you during the period of your internship. Please
make sure you read this document carefully as you must accept the conditions with your
signature.
Intern’s responsibilities
● Requesting and having valid visa for arrival and/or residence permit for legal stay in Hungary for
the purpose of internship organized by international student organizations (if it is required
depending on home country). AIESEC in Hungary does provide support i.e. documents and
information but does not cover the any necessary application fees.
● Purchase and have medical insurance fully covering your internship duration in all cases. ●
Provide the present document (Intern’s Statement of Understanding) signed by you. ● Provide a
valid student enrollment document to AIESEC in Hungary from your college/university
which states that you have active student status at that foreign higher education institution. The
certificate should cover the whole duration of the internship. In case procuring a document
matching these requirements is not possible, a new copy is required e.g. at the beginning of each
new university semester.
● Provide this original, verifiable student enrollment document to AIESEC in Hungary. ● Sign your
trilateral Agreement contract with the Partner Employer and AIESEC inHungary. ● Sign
supplementary trilateral Agreement Modification with the Partner Employer and AIESEC in
Hungary in case of internship grant raise or modification of internship duration, when eligible
(dependent on continuing student status).
● Bring sufficient funds for the first 1.5 – 2 months of your internship: at least 310 000 HUF (1 000
EUR or 1 100 USD) is recommended. In the first days following your arrival in Hungary you will
need about 31 000 HUF for buying necessary things – public transportation monthly pass, buying
a phone SIM card, etc.
● Open a Hungarian bank account at and only at Budapest Bank Zrt.
● Attend Incoming Preparation Seminar organized by AIESEC in Hungary.
● Acknowledge that your first internship grant may arrive to your Hungarian bank account only 1,5-
2 months after your arrival.
● Acknowledge that if your start date is not the first day of the month, the internship grant may
vary proportionately according to the remaining calendar/workdays of the month. ● Communicate
with AIESEC in Hungary in internship-related matters and NOT with the company directly.
● In case you intend to travel, especially if abroad, inform AIESEC in Hungary in advance and make
the respective request of leave days to the company.
● Fill measurement forms and surveys about your internship situation and experience when you are
asked.
● Inform AIESEC in Hungary 2 months before the expiry date of your residence permit. ● Take
proactive steps in solving any upcoming issue concerning your internship. ● Respect the start &
end date of your internship. If you wish to modify your end date, always contact us at least 2
months prior.
● The intern is responsible and accountable to inform the Partner Employer and AIESEC in Hungary
Employer must agree on a modified end date between 1 to 30 days hereafter, and intern must
agree to provide reasoning. If AIESEC in Hungary determines that this reasoning does not
constitute sufficient proof according to AEPP point 4.6.3., intern acknowledges the possibility of
financial penalties of up to 150 000 HUF (~500 USD). If the intern fails to provide the above 30-day
written notice, the incurred financial penalties may increase to 210 000 HUF (~700 USD).
AIESEC’s responsibilities
● Supporting the intern in visa and/or residence permit application processes.
● Provide information about Hungary, about the Partner Employer and about the internship if
required by the intern.
● Welcome the intern at the airport or in case this is not possible, provide all transportation
information needed in order for the intern to reach their final destination.
● Assistance (information) in finding the intern’s first room / apartment to rent in Budapest;
AIESEC in Hungary is only obliged to recommend one (1) specific accommodation for you upon
arrival in Hungary, meaning that in case you intend to change housing, you must manage it for
yourself.
● Escort the intern to the first day of work.
All other conditions of the internship are regulated by the trilateral Agreement, Hungarian law, and
the AIESEC Exchange Program Policies (AEPP): aies.ec/aeppic2020
