Amaya in the spotlight

It educates the viewers about historical Philippine hierarchy.

Amaya is Datu Bugna’s daughter from Dal’lang, an uripon or slave. He hides her in a secret chamber as a
binukot. This is a practice that secludes a young person with the expectation of the individual going to a
higher value by their marital suitors in the future. Amaya’s twin snake is set free to the forest and will
only come back if she is in dire need of help.

There was one time that Amaya tried to escape from her chamber. She met Bagani for the first time.
They, then, immediately fall in love with each other. Although hey had to go through distance and years
of not seeing each other, they remained hopeful of a day they meet again. (Guzman, 2011)
