ARE CHILDREN OF PARENTS WHO ARE INVOLVED IN THEIR SCHOOLING

MORE SUCCESSFUL IN SCHOOL?

Parental involvement in their children’s education should be the basis of parenting. The
more parents participate in their child's education, the better their motivation, behavior
and grades will be throughout the class. Studies have shown that the characteristics of
students and their families influence the level of parental involvement. The parental
perception to involve children in schooling have also been shown to be a great predictor
and also their children's success in the future. In addition, everyone believes that the
parent’s belief about their responsibilities as parent is important.

Therefore, involving parents in schools encourages their children’s as well because they
will feel support from their parents will make them be more confident and be more
motivated. For example, during consensus day at school, parents have to come to schools
to meet up their teachers for their children’s progress or performance at schools.
Normally in Malaysia, most of the parents take it easy because they think it was not
important and for those parents that active in this, their children’s will do better because
their parents very supportive. Other than that, not all the parents involving in schooling
will give positive effect to their children or schools, it’s also can contributed into negative
effect too. This is because, too much parents involving in schools they will think that they
are always right. For example if their children’s have disciplinary problem in schools,
their parents will blame the schools not take a serious responsibility to taking care their
children’s, most of this cases always happened in secondary schools whereby the parents
mind set was think their children’s can make a right decision and once they involve in
disciplinary problem, they will hard to believe.

Other than that, parent’s engagement also can lead into their children’s have better in
social skills and classroom behavior. This is because by doing this, their children more
aware and be more focus because they always think that their parents always watching
what they did in schools. Therefore, we can say that most parental engagement is from
educated parents because they easily understand the school process and what their
children need the most. Educated parents normally easily can support schools activity
because they encourage their children’s to participate rather than they doing nothing at
home but different for parents that lower income which they only set in their mind their
responsibility is until their children’s complete their secondary schools which is form five
then they will encourage their children’s looking for job instead of encouraging their
children continue their study even though their result is good. This kind of group very
hard and rarely meet school teacher because they don’t know how to communicate with
teacher.

A part from that, every schools have parents association like we called it PIBG group and
through this channel the teachers will deliver their information through this organization
but again not all the parents in schools involve and care about it. Normally for those
parents that very active in this association always very supportive to support any event or
schools activity because they think it was necessary and the key of successful of their
children’s not only teacher responsibility but also from their support too.  Parental
involvement in educating children should not stop when children are in high school.
Instead parental involvement should continue until the children finish school. The family
context component plays an important role in parents ’efforts to engage in children’s
education. All components in the family context are seen as significant and allow parents
to be involved in their children's education, especially involvement at home. Involvement
at home was found to be more agreed by children than parents involved in school.

Parents play an important role in a family. As a child, one needs help and support from
parents to achieve outstanding success in education. With the help and prayers of parents,
children are able to achieve outstanding success in education. Parents have a great
responsibility to their children and the household. If parents often neglect their children, it
is certain that the children will feel neglected and they will engage in bad social
symptoms. Therefore, parents must be responsible and ensure that their children excel in
their studies. Parental involvement in their children's education not only boosts morale,
attitude, and academic achievement but also results in positive behaviour and social
adjustment. This means that involving parents in their children's education is equivalent
to saying that the school is proactive in implementing change or development among
students. As parental involvement grows, teachers and school administrators have a better
chance of attempting to implement quality education reform efforts, and children will be
more successful in school education.

Other than that, in order to get better engagement with parents, as a teachers we should know
how to create better engagement with student’s parents such through connect with parents in
person as much as possible, and we can use emails, texts, or apps to keep parents up to date
on upcoming class events. This kind of support from schools will make the parents always
aware with schools activity. In addition, this types of effort also will build up strong
relationship between teacher and parents. Then, schools also should provide opportunities for
parents to connect with the school in any types of communication in either verbal or
nonverbal because this will create a strong relationship among them with schools. Good
engagement among teachers and parents will lead into schools successfully.

Last but not least is very high parental interest is associated with better exam results, than for
children whose parents show no interest. This is because we clearly understand that support is
very important to ensure all this happened. The parents involved in the study expressed great
satisfaction in being involved and teachers reported that the children of these parents showed
an increased keenness for learning and were better behaved at schools and to conclude,
positive support from both parents and teachers are much needed in schools to make better in
education.

2.0 HOW EFFECTIVE ARE DIFFERENT TECHNIQUE, STYLE OF LEARNING,
AND CLASSROOM ORGANIZATION IN TEACHING STUDENTS OF VARIOUS
TYPES AND ABILITIES?

2.1 Teaching Techniques

The teaching techniques method is a personal choice and should be supported by
research and experience. Teachers need to be able to choose methods that involve and
inspire learners and help them retain and retrieve information. Success depends on the
age and skills of the student, so regular confirmation of success in the classroom is
essential to success as a teacher. Teaching methods consist of the principles and
methods used by teachers to enable students to learn. These strategies are determined
in part by the subject being taught and in part by the nature of the learner. For a
particular teaching method to be appropriate and effective, it must be proportional to
the learner's characteristics and the type of learning it intends to bring. Teaching
method design and selection must take into account not only the nature of the subject,
but also the student's learning behavior. The trend in schools today is that it
encourages a lot of creativity. It is a known fact that human progress is made by
logical thinking. This reasoning and this original idea promote creativity.

The approaches for teaching can be broadly classified into teacher centered and
student centered. In a teacher center learning approach, teachers are the main
authority on this model. Students are considered "empty sheets" and their main role is
to passively receive information with the ultimate goal of testing and scoring.
Communicating and delivering information to students is the teacher's main job. In
this model, education and evaluation are considered as two separate entities. Student
learning is measured through objectively evaluated tests and evaluations. In the
Student Centered approach to learning, teachers are the authority on this model, but
teachers and students play equally active roles in the learning process. The teacher's
primary role is to guide and promote student learning and a general understanding of
the material. Student learning is measured in both formal and informal assessment
formats, including group projects, student portfolios, and classroom attendance. There
are several other learning techniques that can be implemented to create an effective
learning environment.

The direct instruction technique is one of the methods that can be implemented in the
learning session. Directed instruction is a teacher centered approach in which the
teacher teaches the entire class directly to the students. This method is the most
common technique used in classroom lessons. This benefits the teacher as they can
provide all lessons and answer questions to ensure the understanding of their student.
This method is usually a part of a new learning activity. The collaborative learning is
also the method of learning that can create a great learning atmosphere. This
collaborative learning or team work is very commonly used in the classroom
nowadays. Teachers regularly incorporate collaborative projects into their lesson
plans to inspire discussions and enhance learning. By creating works and
presentations in groups, students can discover new ideas and connect with existing
knowledge. Some teachers found evidence of the effectiveness of collaborative
working as consistently positive.

2.1 Styles of Learning

Learning style is the approach or way in which a person learns in acquiring

knowledge (Dr Ragbir Kaur Joginder Singh, 2012). Learning, on the other hand, is the
ability of a person to take information, encode and file that information so that it
becomes easy to use when used. In addition, learning style is also the way an
individual responds to the world and uses learning style to interact with people in our
environment. As we already know that everyone’s learning style is different, there are
people who can learn while listening to a song, yet there are also people who need to
be in a state of silence to learn. Therefore, the learning style chosen is dependent on
the individual. Learning styles should be given attention in order to learn more
effectively. There are three common learning styles it is visual learning style, auditory
learning style and kinesthetic learning style.

Firstly, visual learning styles are people who are kind of fond of learning with letters,
pictures or diagrams, text, existing objects and so on. In addition, students are more
likely to learn Sesutu by looking at existing texts and prefer to learn through sight.
Pupils with this learning style need to take notes when remembering something and
do not need verbal explanations. For example, while in class, I copied all the notes

5|Page
given by the teacher and tried to make references in the form of text and pictures to
add to his knowledge of learning.

Secondly, Auditory learning style is a type of learning that emphasizes word listening
and verbal instructions. Student needs to remember the description through reading
aloud or moving the lips while learning something. In addition, students who use this
type of learning will strengthen memory in re -listening to audio tape recordings and
also teach other students and discuss with teachers. For example, student A did not
copy the notes while the teacher explained the concept of photosynthesis. But he only
listened and remembered what was described. After that, the teacher gives training to
them. Student A was able to answer well by using recall techniques. Therefore,
student A used an auditory learning style.

Lastly, Kinesthetic learning style is learning that students can learn through
movements to remember information into the brain. Students who practice this type of
learning, need concrete learning materials to help them remember something. In
addition, students of this type of learning like to touch with objects because they like
the field that can give them a realistic experience. For example, during Science
subject study time, teachers take students out of class and go to the flower garden.
Students are given the opportunity to touch and feel the shapes of flowers. After that,
there are some students can draw the shape of the flower that was touched earlier,
then the student is a kind of kinesthetic learning.

2.2 An effective classroom organization in teaching students various types and

abilities.

Teachers play various roles in a typical classroom, but surely one of the most
important is that of classroom manager. Classroom organization is evident in a room
even if no one is present. Furniture arrangements, location of materials, displays, and
fixed elements are all part of the organization. Everything a teacher does has
implications for classroom management, including creating the setting, decorating the
room, arranging the chairs, speaking to children and handling their responses, putting
routines in place and then executing, modifying, and reinstituting them, developing
rules, and communicating those rules to the students. These are all aspects of
6|Page
classroom organization. Effective teachers think about the little details that enhance
the use of available space in the classroom including different types of classroom
settings in teaching students various types and abilities.

The classroom organization system is effective because it enhances student success by

creating an orderly learning environment that enhances academic skills and
competencies and social and emotional development. The way to make classroom
organization effective is by using technology. The use of technology during class
instruction can foster student engagement for auditory and visual learners, especially
for students with the abilities. Using technologies like PowerPoints software, games
application, internet homework assignments, or online grading systems can be
difference-makers in student growth in the classroom. This is important because it
will help students with different styles of learning. Not all students learn and get
information in the same way or at the same speed also prepare students with life
skills. Nowadays, technology has become a form of literacy because it is often used in
everyday life. Many careers use at least one aspect of Microsoft Office or Google
Drive daily, indirectly allowing students to learn and refine these skills prepares them
for life beyond the classroom.

Next, homework or tasks given by the teacher is common among learners to associate
tasks and homework with punishment for not having finished their task even with
students’ various types and abilities. Progressive movements are trying to remove
students’ tasks from the school timetable in favor of developing other personal
aspects. That way and this is something we don’t agree with, students are not given
any homework, although it is true that it would be the teaching staff's responsibility to
control the number of tasks not to be excessive and thus let the students rest.

3.0 SUMMARY

In summary for both question we know that education is very important in our life. Refer to
the first question that we did, we would strongly agree that parental engagement is very
important to achieve schools goal and the key of successful of children’s. Then, by strong
support from student parents we know that the responsibility to teach students not only
teachers job responsibility but also with role of parents. Even though some parents will not
consider with their children problem at schools and might be some parents too stubborn in
their children progress or performance at schools, as a teacher we should know and think how
to settle this type of situation or problem.

Parental involvement in their children’s education is extremely important for the child
development. This is because the children will feel secure and protected with the involvement
of family in their school activity. Therefore, we also strongly agreed that schools teachers’
relationship with parents also can influence the successful of students. This is because a
strong relationship will lead into understanding and good cooperation among schools and
parents. Schools activity will be easier to implement with support from parents as the
permission is form their parents to join any activity in schools and this is why schools teacher
must having a good relationship with student parents.

Last but not least for our summary question two is teaching technique and an effective
organization in classroom influence the abilities of students. We strongly understand that
teaching technique is the most    influence the abilities of students because every students
with different types of understanding in classroom especially for primary schools.  For
example activity in classroom will make teaching method more effective than normal
learning such reading because students need fun in class in order to gain their understanding.
A part form that, teaching technique such outdoor activity also will give better experience to
students because they will feel the differences of learning study from others and this will
make them more enjoying the class.

Then, as a teachers, our job is to make sure our students well understand and enjoy while
learning. Classroom is important part because it is their place to gain knowledge and by make
sure classroom more organize make our students more comfortable and happy. Learning
environment in classroom should be more creative instead of reading, we must ensure during
8|Page
teaching we must be more creative in do activity such group activity so that the students can
exchange their opinion with others and this will make them more productive in class and we
can directly know their abilities especially in problem solving and critical thinking.  In order
to conclude for both question, education not just to learn but in order to teach, we should
understand that many parties will involve so that schools goal will achieve and to learn not
only for young leaner but everyone must learn. We believe that the more we learn the more
we can get and understand like teachers’ they also in learning process even though they teach,
they also try to learn their students background in order to help their students more
understand and no one left behind. Our education system in Malaysia can be more success by
support from many parties and including government roles. Good education empower better
future.
