Read the text below and complete the following tasks.

Skiing isn't likely to replace football and baseball in the hearts of American sports watchers, but
for the active, do-it-yourself crowd, skiing climbs higher on the list each year. … (1) Even that requires
a fair-sized sum of money for equipment if you buy your own; renting, of course, is cheaper.
… (2) That way you get well-maintained slopes, the opportunity for instruction, the use of lifts,
and the fun of skiing without the expense of a longer stay. Many countries, with the help of machine-
made snow, now have ski areas within fairly easy reach in terms of both money and distance.
… (3) Ski fans say there is nothing like it. (If any kind of skiing is out of the question for you right now,
just tuck the idea for the future. …(4)
Some of you may be able to get it all together money, time, opportunity, transportation,
equipment - and go with a few friends, but for the younger student, the best chance of getting to a ski
area is usually with one's family. Therefore, you may be glad to learn that ski resorts have changed
their policy in recent years and are now trying hard to attract family groups.
